The level of mask compliance on the trains right now is stunning. I'm on a train with about 40 people and all but 1 or 2 are wearing masks. And this has been my consistent observation over the last few weeks! I know it's still required, but this is distinctly more compliance than I ever saw a year ago!

The only variable I can think of is I'm now riding during normal commute times, so maybe the polite professional crowd wears masks more than the folks on the trains at odd times of day.

I think we all collectively realized that it’s nice to not have random strangers breathing/coughing/sneezing on us in such a tight space lol I would expect a decent number of people to mask on subways indefinitely

💯 I rarely go on the subway now but for this alone it’s worth it

like

I stopped wearing one I just don't care anymore and COVID is over.

Rules always lag behind reality.

If they kill the mask rule in April it will be proof IMHO that being maskless in March was perfectly safe.

Commuters who don't live in the city probably think it's dirty here. But hasn't it always been dirty?

If you are riding the subway after dark with the nightlife crowd....far fewer masks.

Never once wore a mask on the subway

It’s been theater from Day 1, according to The Fauci. The man conceded masks were useless on 60 minutes in early 2020, lmao, still publicly available video, just thrown down the memory hole and buried under layers and layers of lies

This is on par with my experience almost the entire pandemic. Usually there’s usually 1-4 people not wearing it depending on how crowded it is, but largely high compliance. I’ve noticed less compliance lately, probably with warmer weather and (previously) thinking we were coming to the end of the mandate.

like

Yeah to be fair I only took the train sporadically in 2020, and only after most people had access to masks (either n95 or cloth masks).
I think we’ll start to see less compliance, like you said especially with the weather improving

Pre pandemic I always thought the subway stank when I took the train downtown. The mask helps with the smell somewhat 😂

I wear a mask to hide my face so I don’t get harassed by the crazies at this point

like

Take the subway on Friday or Saturday night. There might be 1 or 2 people wearing masks. Not even sure why it’s still required on the subway but not required for literally every other part of our lives

That's been my experience too.

I think people have just finally gotten used to wearing masks on the subway

HSBC Results are out HSBC’s pre-tax profits almost doubled to $2.7bn in the final quarter of 2021 as the UK lender’s commercial banking revenues were buoyed by growth in credit and lending. The London-based bank said in an earnings statement on Tuesday that full-year pre-tax profits increased 115 per cent to $18.9bn, just missing forecasts of $19.1bn. Reflection of these results on employees : Single digit hikes even for top performers. Same scene continues from past 3 years now. HSBC

Has anyone lateraled from big law into an in-house role at one of your firm’s clients? I feel like this happens quite a lot and curious how that process went (did you reach out to them, they to you, etc)? I’m in my second year and staffed on a large client & starting to develop a relationship which I’d like to maintain. I’m thinking about hanging in here for another year or two but then starting to look to lateral. Would love to work for this company if a position is available at that time.
