Anyone hiring for a Marketing Analyst position?
So yes, part of this is true but depends what type of marketing you do. I’m in email marketing and lifecycle marketing. What that means is that I handle the acquisition of customers, the engagement while they are customers and finally if they cancel, the getting them back. So that type of marketer is always needed. You just have to make your marketing skills specialized so they always need you.
Thank you, that's some great advice!
I've been building up my savings to make sure I have plenty of time to job hunt. The great thing about marketing is that so many of the skills are transferable to many areas of business. The opportunities are there, you just might have to think outside the box.
Aside from exploring other potential job opportunities, I've been proactively working on building my personal brand across various platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram to ensure that even if I do experience layoffs, my skills are still visible to potential employers out there. Additionally, I'm actively networking with others in the industry and attending events or conferences where I can build connections that could lead to job opportunities down the line.
I'm actively looking for new opportunities, attending informational interviews to stay in touch with contacts in the industry, and exploring additional education or credentials that could help advance my career. Additionally, I'm making sure to keep up with market trends and the latest technology so that my skillset remains relevant.
I'm actively networking and applying for other positions, and I have a list of key contacts that could help me find another job. Additionally, I'm investing time and money into building valuable skills that will make me more marketable and give me more job opportunities.
I've set aside some emergency funds to cover any immediate costs associated with an unexpected job loss. Apart from that, nothing else
As part of my personal financial planning, I have started to diversify my income sources and increase my savings over the last few years. This is so that if something like a layoff were to occur, I can fall back on other sources of income and still be financially secure.
My backup plan is ensuring my resume stays up-to-date and relevant, actively networking with professionals in my industry, finding new areas where I can add value to potential employers, saving up enough financial cushion to cover basic expenses while searching for new employment opportunities, and having an honest assessment of my transferable skills so that I can take advantage of any new job opportunities that come my way.
I got laid off this year. I keep 12 months of expenses in my emergency fund for unexpected situations like the lost of a job. Having it really eased the stress of looking for a new job. I recommend keeping the “Open to Work” feature on LinkedIn visible to recruiters even if you already have a job.
Always have a fund set aside and be actively networking. Beyond that, you should be applying elsewhere at least a few times a month to see if anything catches your eye. Also, try to find companies that have marketing as the main revenue driver for the business; this will limit any layoff impact to your team.
