It’s 2021 and people are still struggling with video calls. Here’s a refresher for anyone who needs it
Rule #1- close all unrelated windows
Rule #2- block all IMs.
Rule#3 - all trash talking takes place on text NOT on company provided software
Rule #4 - Put cell phones and tablets in silent
+ Turn off slack notifications and close gmail
Rule #5 - if you have a Mac, turn off notifications. Early in my career, I once was presenting to a CIO when my wife texted me to see if I paid the mortgage.
CIOs response: now I can see why you are pushing to get me to sign this contract.
Zoom allows you to choose which program screen to share, so instead of sharing your whole screen, you just share a certain window. How are they not doing this??

lol this is my every day. I witness 2+ vendors being defensive requiring me to jump on to calls with my team members I attribute to WFH and pandemic to sort through emotional stress. So yeah to the universe and people we all say being flexible with office v. WFH please remember when we cannot perform or do the work that there are consequences meaning no WFH, being pulled from work replaced by those who can sort out problems and not having to engage leadership... maybe it’s Sunday but hey common sense right?
