Unused property tax is absurd. It's ironic to me that your solution is the opposite of what's happening in the mountains, where they are trying to limit AirBnBs, with the end result that a lot of second home owners are now just leaving their properties vacant when they're not using them.

PWC: completely agree. I spend about 80 night a year in Winter Park and hear this argument all the time. When a place is occupied as an AirBnB there is a tourist in town buying groceries, eating at restaurants, and drinking beer. In a nutshell spending money where locals work. When the place is empty jobs, especially off-season jobs are hard to land making it very hard for year round employment.
Unused property tax? Good luck lol someone owns those properties and can do whatever they want with them, just as you can do with properties you own

Agree. The property owner can do what they want with their property. It’s not anyone’s business if they keep it vacant

An used property tax is absurd. What us the best thing “we” can do with vacant homes???? Nothing because “we” don’t own them.
Of course people can do whatever they want with their properties, but local government can offer incentives to encourage owners to do things with them.
Unused property tax is an insane idea. IMO the best solution for Denver is to build up and improve its urban density.
