The only positive thing I’m getting from this hell market is a lot of lessons learned (very very painful lessons, entered the market for the first time around late dec/early jan in segments).

Markets are cyclical. Leave it parked and forget about it. It will all come back and then some over time

I’m just more panicked cause I (stupidly) put my money set aside for a house DP into the market thinking I would earn better than a HSYA. Obviously my timeline horizon was less than optimal for the risk incurred but based on the projected earnings season coming and the history of the market, I thought I had at least a year to reap it. And was still doing better than the HYSA up til the bottom fell obviously. But I’m young and some people are putting up loss numbers than more than triple my overall investment so. So my main lesson learned is be mindful of the time horizon with regard to acceptable risk.

That’s a good lesson learned. If you had bought and not had a short term goal, it would’ve been the right strategy to go into the market even if the results weren’t good because you couldn’t have known. But be cause you had a short term goal, it was not the right strategy.

Should have just placed it in a HYSA 😩

You’re entitled to a premium on your capital because of the risk. That’s the lesson

Cyclical, yes. Risk, yes. Knew these going in. Was also aware of the risk/chatter of a correction to come soon, but this much drop?? Holy hell. Granted, I was not around the market during 2008/18 so this is my first “big one” I guess.

I am on the same boat but not worried. Just would wait it out

How many teachers set their own curriculum, meaning that you come up with everything you teach and assess? Beyond that, how many teachers are expected to change up their content almost every year? As a high school English teacher, I develop everything myself or collaborate with my (frankly amazing) coworkers. We are asked constantly to find new, modern books to buy and to develop curriculum around them (because our subject is more skill based). Wondering if other districts/subjects do the same.

Curious to know if there are folks out there who are genuinely scared of driving like me? I’m in my early 30s and I’ve been terrified of getting my driver’s license for years because it seems everyone drives so fast and I’m scared of crashing. This is now starting to affect my relationship because my s/o thinks I’m just lazy to get the license when I’ve reiterated that I’m scared and even tried doing lessons but i wasn’t comfortable. How does one overcome this fear?

I had an interview for a position with a person that would be my co manager in this new department. I felt like he was trying to give me hard questions and never really listened to my answers. He basically was letting me know how he would handle the situation and try to cut me off when I did a follow up. I am like was that a good answer or was I way off. He has only been in that role for 3 weeks so might be an ego thing. I am like did I pass the interview haha. Advice.
