The only series I’ve ever successfully watched (and re-watched tbh) are: How I Met Your Mother and Dexter. Apart from these, I rarely watch TV. I feel like it says something about me but I can’t put it into words.

That you only like shows that started out good and then had terrible endings? You should try Game of Thrones next.

funnylike

We knew going in that game of thrones ending would be underwhelming (how could you possibly live up to the first 6 seasons and close all the loops with only 13 episodes in the final 2?) but I strongly feel it gets too much hate. If they had longer to play out the story arc for certain characters the actual events that happened would have made sense... To me it just felt rushed. Sorry I can't hear a word against that show without arguing. OP please make GOT your next one, by far best show I've ever seen. I also wasn't a huge tv person before the last few years

I do the exact same thing. It is comforting for me to stay in the ‘known’ zone. There can be multiple interpretations, fear of the unknown, afraid of trying new things and taking risks and also low self esteem. I don’t care about any of the interpretations, if you stay in hospital long enough, they would diagnose you with something. As long as you are happy, don’t give a f**k

My ADHD makes it almost impossible for me to finish tv series. I even finish movies in 2-3 sittings. Over the years, I've realized I should stick to movies or documentaries in the traditional 1.5-2 hr format. So far, I don't think I've missed out on anything by eliminating tv apart from a few GoT conversations. At the same time, I can spend hours reading as it keeps me actively engaged.

Yes, this sums me up! Minus the ADHD. But I’m definitely a movie/documentary person for sure.

Who is you fav himym character?

Ok, Zoe or Jeanette? Jeanette was definitely high on the crazy/hot scale

Why place such a value on watching TV shows? Surely there’s something better to do with all of those hours? So many people spend so much time watching TV, then don’t really have any other hobbies

Tranquílate, there is no value places on watching TV shows. The last time I watched either was 2 years ago. I don’t watch tv in general because I don’t have the patience to sit that long and dedicate my attention to it. Just as the hashtag said, it was a random thought.

FTM - I’m just curious on how some of your maternity leave is set up. I received short term disability pay for 6 weeks and then paid from my job for 6 - they offered additional bonding time, but unpaid. The paid portion came from my “sick time.” I wasn’t sick, I was caring for and bonding with my son. That’s been bothering me since I returned. Now I don’t have any sick leave and any last minute time that I need to take is unpaid. Other countries give moms the entire year, 100% paid 🥴

I really want to try for baby no. 2 soon but now if I would start it would put me in my busiest month of January when the baby would be due. I already went down in hours this past year because of the pandemic and my Team had to pick up the slack. I also was told yesterday that the team struggled when I went down in hours. I really want to start trying because I want my kids closer in age. My daughter turns 2 in July so I would like to start soon so they are 2.5-3 years apart. I don’t know

My wife and I just had our first child and as she was waiting to be vaccinated (we went for her first shot on the way home from the hospital), we told both sets of parents to wait 3 weeks before flying to come see us. Understand that’s upsetting but her parents couldn’t handle it to the point that they stopped talking to her for three weeks half way through the pregnancy and then after saying they understood, flew to her sisters place (2 hrs from us) without telling us then called after..cont’d

Question, please. I started receiving the advance child tax credit last month. I’m eligible since I filed married filing jointly in 2020, but was the only one working. My wife started working again last month and with that, it’ll put us over the $150K threshold. What will be the net impact of this since I’ll have to repay I believe. Not so clear to me based on IRS guidance.

Good news and bad news: We are expecting our first child in the next 2mo. Sadly, we’ve also just lost a close family member. As a result, we’ve come into a little money and would like to put maybe $10-15K aside to start a college savings for baby. Does anyone have experience with this? What’s the best way to go about it? I’m not hugely familiar with this, but want to make sure I understand the fees and taxes that may be affiliated with different options. Would be grateful for any insight!

Mothers, how do you keep your life going / live your life for yourself without having all your time sucked up by work and kids? I grew up with a doting stay-at-home mom, so I don’t have many examples of what balanced motherhood looks like. Also, it seems like American society erases your entire identity as a human being beyond “mom” once you have a kid, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Thinking of having kids someday, but worried I’m too selfish to go for it.

Hi all! She’s a very senior and experienced person so feels bad that she thinks so negatively of me already. I want to improve, but it will take some time as I’m still relatively new. (Cont)

I’ve always gotten the advice that when you want to switch jobs you should take interviews from places you’re not actually interested in, so you can understand your value in the market and have better negotiating power. I’m doing that rn - took a couple interviews to gauge my skills, my market value, and see what I need to work on for interviews that I actually care about. However, I feel really guilty about wasting their time and going all the way knowing I’ll just say no at the end. Wwyd?

Ideally, I would wait until the bonus hits my account before I put in my 2 weeks. If the new job wants me to start sooner than august 20th, is it acceptable to say that I want to stay because of the bonus, or should I give a different reason? Is it a bad look if I say I want to stay for the bonus?
