EY GDS - Is below statement is common across all offer letters. Since I didn't discussed anything on shift hours with either HR or interview panel in EY ?
Additionally, as mentioned in your interview process, the Firm may implement staggered work shifts, from time to time. In such an event, you shall abide by the change in the standard working hours as may be notified by the Firm to accommodate such staggered shifts.
Happy Monday, fellow laborers!

How old are you OP? Because mass shootings have been around for decades. This is not a generational problem.
Thank you for your response, D2. You are actually touching on the point I was making.
You can’t place the blame for these incidents on a single race, and the same can be said to a generation. It’s a lazy answer to a nuanced problem, and gives no room for solutions.
Was this Oxford kid even bullied or was he just a violent person looking to cause harm to others?
I think some of it is that now that they have seen shooting up school as an something others have done when bullied, it's a little bit monkey see monkey do.

They say he wasnt bullied but he looks like he'd get bullied, I think we will find out more once some of this initial stuff is dispelled.
1. Access to guns is a much different thing than when we were young.
2. Parents less able to monitor what goes on (can’t keep track of phones, internet, tablets, etc) - I was bullied but prank calls were handily intercepted
3. Parents not able to confront/ work with other parents to manage kids behaviors towards each other.
4. Teachers less empowered or able (due to workload or virtual environment) to observe / intervene on troubling behavior
Just some ideas. It’s a really complex issue that goes to the heart of nature vs nurture.
Rising Star
I’m with you - a lot more physical bullying and less emphasis on mental health back in the day too. If anything I feel kids are a lot kinder and more understanding now?
On the flip side there’s so much more pressure from social media

Media contagion effect is one driver
I think it’s bc kids are growing without any thick skin. Participation trophy type of kids. The world is freaking cruel. If you don’t know how to cope or regulate , you are doomed for life. I was bullied tremendously when I was growing up. Instead of growing weak and fearful , I used that experience to become stronger , independent and relentless. Raise strong kids , kids that won’t break when other kids try putting them down.
Pro
I agree, maybe it’s a mix of everything. Not a huge support system at home or school. Not enough mental resilience and thinking that they would get away with it.
I’m not sure if it is because kids are more sensitive or need to suck it up. I think it all stems to more social media than before. No consequences for actions. No support system at home. Parents could be awol due to having to work multiple jobs or just not caring about kids or not wanting to take a part in their lives.
I would consider myself a sensitive person compared to most or being in touch with my feelings. I do believe that there’s a lot going on with kids now than there has been in the past and with the lack of support systems along with the way the world is and how it’s going - mentally it can be hard to watch
