The small firm I work for has a terrible turn over rate and I think it is in part due to the firm owner/managing attorney. He seems oblivious to this and always finds fault with the people who leave. Is there any good way to approach this with him or am I better off keeping my mouth shut? It’s affecting my work because I keep losing assistants and paralegals and then having to get new ones caught up.

Tips/advice on resigning from a toxic firm? I know that when I give my 2 weeks it’s going to be extremely awkward and I’m not sure the response I will get. Some guidance from those who have been in my position would be nice.

I started my own practice, it feels like 40-50% biz development/ admin work. 30% practicing law and 10% coffee breaks. Anyone else? Mind you it’s a corporate practice so ALOT of calls that sometimes turn into nothing.

Crowdsourcing-which networking groups would you recommend that actually led to biz. The problem with most for an atty is you can’t recommend to clients a prof just b/c they are in your networking group.

I am a new attorney at a small ID firm but one one of the partners does business law as well. I referred a potential client for business services but I haven’t not done any business work yet. Should I expect to get in on the work if they sign on or will I stay with what they have me doing with insurance?

Thinking that in a few months, I’ll concretely work solely for my own practice full-time. How difficult is it to gain clients (mainly PI and civil lit)? I work at a small, 3 lawyer firm. One of the lawyers is not barred in the state we practice. Because of this, the managing attorney has been having him draft motions and other legal documents and use my name and bar number and having me file them because I will have to appear in court for the matter. Is this normal? I am not provided time to review the materials before I file them so I end up working longer days because I am nervous to file something using my name and bar number.

Is there a good reliable source for demand letter templates? I transitioned into my own practice from big law transactional work and don't have a nice repository of demand letters. Much of my solo work is dispute resolution which necessarily means I need to bulk up on my resources.
