Hi everyone! I am a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) and have been with my company for a bit over a year and a half. I am one of the few that has stayed this long, 1 of 2 bilingual techs, and there’s been a high turn over rate in technicians since I’ve start but it has increased drastically lately so in light of that I was thinking of asking for a raise. I currently get paid $21/hr. Any recommendations how I should go about asking for a raise, how much more I should ask for, etc.?

I think I’m anxious at work because of the fear of disappointing others.

I work at a 40 person company and about 35 went to the same very highly regarded school. 5 of us (including me) went to an easier school but 2nd in the state. The majority likes to make fun of us, like a 45 year old dude still making college hate jokes.

But it’s always fun to remember we ended up in the same place making the same money. And they worked so much harder for it.

My two best friends are a tiny bit racist (more that they make racist jokes a lot) and this rubs off on me I hate to say it and I have to train myself to undo whatever has rubbed on me. I’m so mad that capitalism absorbs almost all the best talent on Earth – people who should be composers, artists, writers, scientists – and uses their labor for such cheap, inconsequential ends.

I hate consulting. The majority of consulting is a mix of coming up with bs using business doublespeak, office politics, building slides, boasting about the experience you claim you have, and being “proactive” on email to let people think you’re busy doing all these great things when it’s not.

Just 6 more months until I can resign and not pay back the sign on bonus 👏🏻👏🏻
