These bleeding hearts can always donate or pay more in tax. That is an option every tax payer has. But no, they spew this nonsense and want to tax everyone else actually working.

like

Yes, SC1, we don’t want these rich people getting attacked for publicly asking to do something they could already do. But, if they just did it without announcing it, people might not know how good they are, oops, how good they WANT to be. Now, if the dang-o government would just legislate it already! Why doesn’t the government just do what the “rich people” want!? 😩😭

like

Exactly. If you feel so inclined, do it. If I really want to do something, I don’t wait for it to be mandated if it is already allowed. But, how noble of them. 🙄

like

Heirs calling for this have no leg to stand on This is also not very material because for the wealthy, they operate like companies so they can utilize holding companies, trusts, and offshore accounts to legally reduce their effective tax rates.

like

Ben and Jerry absolutely have a leg to stand on. Most heirs are shirt sleeves to shirt sleeves and by the third generation it is over. They didn’t earn the money. It is like buying a 16 year old kid a new car, they don’t understand the work that went into getting it and don’t fully appreciate or respect it. Having actually been “lower middle class” it isn’t the taxes I mind so much as the lack of value I see received from them. What government has promised, they likely can’t deliver on. Increasing taxes won’t work, the entire tax structure and code requires reform.

like

Easy for people who inherited more money than I could ever dream of to say taxes should be increased. The interest income they make in a single year is more than I could hope to earn in a lifetime. The policies espoused don’t actually impact the mega wealthy in a material sense. Rather, it increases taxes on people making a few hundred thousand a year, creating barriers to entry into the upper middle class.

Let's get the word out to them and others who share their beliefs... they can already do this. Gifts to reduce the national debt can be made at this link: https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/23779454 I'm betting that they are just virtue signaling in support of higher taxes they'll just pay advisors to dodge for them.

like

Read your own article M1, it says most who don't pay is because they DON'T EARN ENOUGH. The real wage for the average American has been declining. Where do you think all that money went? To the rich. So the rich takes more, give shittier wage increases for the poor who fall below the income level to pay taxes, and then the rich complain too many people don't pay taxes? How about the rich hoard less, give their average Americans who they employ fair wage increases so that more Americans go above the threshold so they pay income taxes? But the rich have shown they don't again and again so how do we equalize? Tax them

Everyone saying “well just donate more to the US Treasury” are completely missing the point. Just paying more to the IRS while Donald Trump is president just means it gets funneled back to other rich people through tax cuts, or wasted on a pointless wall, or to buy more Gestapo agents abducting people off the street, or more taxpayer money illegal flowing into the Trump Organization. It is not only about the amount, it’s what it is spent on. It’s about building long-term foundational programs that are not subject to the vicissitudes of senators and presidents, whiplashing back and forth every two or four or eight years. Just writing a check to Tim Mnuchin doesn’t accomplish anything.

Look at the link someone shared below. They can make a donation that will go to reduce the public debt, instead of all the unsubstantiated nonsense that you’re claiming.

Hi I am having some trouble on choosing between Deloitte and PwC for a 2022 winter internship. Some pros for Deloitte include being the largest firm, and the promotion to senior being 2 years opposed to 3 at PwC. Additionally, Deloitte offers a pension and has Deloitte university. The pros of PwC include a gym in the office and a younger work force. They also give me much less of a “corporate” feel and seem to offer more flexibility. I’m wondering if anyone could give me any advice on deciding?

How do you have the "I deserve a raise" conversation? Especially when you asked for a certain amount upon signing, and that amount was not initially met but was to be reviewed after the 1st Yr.?

Hi Desi Fam, I noticed a difference between the general consulting bowl vs desi bowl where almost everyone in the desi community is for the covid vaccination. What are some key reasons for the difference from the general US population where a large % are anti-vaxers. Thoughtful answers only (and not answers like we are smarter).

Fairly confident I’ll get an in industry offer this week! Mixed feelings though... Main reason for leaving is WFH consulting just simply isn’t enjoyable. Getting harder for me to see the value in grinding for consulting. Is this short term thinking off? Do people think weathering this storm will give potential raises / promotions soon? I just don’t see consulting going back to what it use to be for ~2 years. I’m a consultant level going for promotion to manager.

I'm a young analyst in ACN with 1+ year of experience in cloud migrations. I've received a very good job offer by another Big 4 in the same sector and service but with better career growth opportunities. I don't like to work in cloud service and also I don't like the banking sector. For this reason, I requested to be moved in another service in ACN. My manager said ok, but this probably takes several months. Next monday I have to provide a feedback to the other company. What would you do?

I’m a little intimidated since it’s at a hot tech company and they’re MBB.
