The team wants to get the client EA a gift for being extremely helpful throughout the engagement - anyone done this before, and any suggestions on gifts?

Spa gift certificate or cash gift card plus a nice thank you card

Flowers, dinner reservations, negotiated extra paid vacation day.

It’s a great idea. Gift cards are fine but a bit impersonal. Flowers are nice if they’re into flowers, spa day is good too.

I usually bring my client EA’s lunch and coffees a few times a month to build rapport. Helps when you’re in a jam and need to squeeze into their calendar urgently.

Hey all!
I’m wondering if anyone is interested to consider / explore making a referral. I’m an associate (project manager) at Oliver Wyman in London on our private capital team (leading DDs). Previously worked at a PE fund and for a long time as a development economist in sub Saharan Africa. Degrees from UChicago and LBS. Based in London.

I mainly want to impress that I am not going to embarrass you as a referral.

This is so AWKWARD. We had our holiday party last night and everyone was drinking (open bar) a group of us went outside to grab cabs together and go home, everything was cool. Tell me why once I got in the cab I got a drunk call from my manager asking if he could get a cab to my place and if I would give him the address 🤦🏻‍♀️. I'm single and not mad that he finds me attractive, more worried that all my other coworkers heard him calling me while they waited with him!!

Hey ladies. I just had surgery today and I am out on short term disability until further notice. I am most like going to get a once in a life time job offer by a big law firm at the end of the week. I’ve never practiced in a law firm, so this will help me with my career big time. How should I give notice to my in house gig? The petty side of me wants to just tell them I’m not coming back but the business woman in me is saying to leave amicably and try to bring them in as client. ... cont in com

I have a brand new person on my team- she is totally new to the field, has recently returned to the workforce (solo mom of 3 teens), is very smart. I knew when I hired her that I’d have to lean in to get her to where she needed to be. She has a ton of potential but lacks experience in a professional setting. I need to help her level up her written communication skills. Any suggestions on books, resources, strategies? She is learning by doing and takes feedback but I want more supports for her.

I have to travel to my client every week and the client’s office is attached to a very nice hotel that’s $250 per night. There’s a hotel right across the street that’s $150 per night.. it’s alright, but not as great. Should I be mindful about how much I’m spending or should I blow up the budget until someone says something?

I got shortlisted for an organisation, then comes the package talk with HR. The mere 5yrs experience HR is saying that cannot provide me more than 30% & very strict in following the same in providing hikes. Most of the Indian companies are still no changing to provide normalisation. Because, because , because of this HR's are only good in negotiating with recruits and don't have the guts to take it to the organization and negotiate to convince Org. On top of it their Email says Employees 1st n client 2nd

My firm has a collections budget (80% of your billable rate x 1850 hours) and an hourly budget that must be met in order to be eligible for a bonus. The firm cares very little about originations and will reward someone for making their collections over someone who brings in new work. I missed my collection budget due to some odd timing with a client, but originated more than all my peers so no bonus for me. I’ve been at this same mid level firm for 9 years and it’s all I know. Is this normal??

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

I am purchasing a home and my boyfriend wants in on the deal as a co-owner. It is only me on the mortgage. We are planning on writing up a co-ownership agreement with a 60%/40% split and yes he will be paying 40% of the mortgage, down payment, and property taxes etc. He wants to be on the title as a tenant in common to reflect that %. Is that fair? I just want to make sure I’m protected but I also understand that if he’s paying all this money, he wants some security as well
