The thing about being a lawyer. I grew up not quite poor, but certainly in tough conditions. Tonight I bought my daughter and I two tickets to the world series to see our beloved phillies in an improbable game. When I was a kid, the closest I got was a game on PRISM. I’m a labor lawyer. I spend all my time traveling. Frequent flyer miles paid for the plane, hilton points for the hotel, rental days for the car. Sometimes this job sucks, but sometimes it’s easy to remember how glorious it can be.

Does the word “inclusion” do more harm than good? What if the panel we simply said “Diversity & Equity”? My thought here is that inclusion insinuates that anyone who isn’t in the “majority” needs to feel “included”, which could be somewhat off putting. Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load. Is this what people consider negative work culture?
