The thread about the worst clients you’ve worked for is going off. In the spirit of positivity, who is your favorite client you’ve ever made work for?

Positivity is great, but I bet its more about favorite projects or longest streak of fun projects without a hassle or dumb story than any client anyone can say was always great. Even the cool clients have a boss theyre afraid of scaring, who’s afraid of breaking a good streak, etc etc.

Its the process—its bound to frustrate us. Its okay, this is the life we’ve chosen. And theres always agency versions.

But—at Deustch I got to work on California Cheese back in the day. We all coveted those projects once a year.

I worked with this guy Steve (I wish I remembered his last name) at Genentech at the beginning. Incredibly exciting company about to completely transform cancer forever. Dude was so good. Understood all the challenges, knew how to handle S Learership and regulatory and us, and bunch of art dorks and word nerds. It was really exciting.

They were awful when I worked on it. But I do remember loving some of their stuff growing up. Especially the Don Cheadle campaign

Dick’s Sporting Goods.. just no-nonsense, fast and supportive - a real pleasure and easy to get good work made. Also Target. Not without its moments of drama, but they’d bring us all little gifts at meetings.. it’s just human and nice (Midwest nice??) and starts meetings on a really nice note. Also they love taking risks. Polar opposite of 99% of clients.

Virgin Mobile. They cared about customers, they knew that their entire business depended on being younger and more user-friendly than the competition, they valued strategy, they tolerated brilliant but wayward creatives, and they had a party culture left over from the 1970s music business.

Background check question. Had a grad school project on my resume with a company. Project was 8 months work with company and 3 months of prep training. This was considered a volunteer role and I have no W2s or anything associated.

On my BGC I listed the 11 months listed above. My previous resume listed this under my education, so I never had exact dates. Grad school was several years back.

Q1 is this kosher to list 11 months?
Q2 anything I should do to clarify?
Q3 does MBB care about vol?

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director l, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

Trying out bumble bff. Met a girl for drinks last week and we seemed to hit it off. We mentioned doing something again and coordinating later in the week. I texted her today to ask if she was still interested in doing something this week and she said she was super busy with a huge project and apologized. But she didn’t offer the weekend (which I feel is included in “this week”), didn’t say “lets do another time” or anything like that. Should I take the L and count her as not rly interested 🥲

I recently started my own firm. We primarily do ID. I want to give our attorneys flexibility and a work life balance so I’m considering giving them a higher % of every hour billed/collected as the basis of their compensation rather than a set salary. This would eliminate any billing pressure and give attorneys the freedom to decide how much they want to work/earn. Anyone have any thoughts on whether this would be fair and/or a good idea?
