The Uber card seems to be have some good perks. There's also $50 crrdit for online services after spending $5k/yr. $100 after spending $500 in 90 days. Thoughts?

Ohmygod. Alright, last try before I give up on you.

You earn varying levels of points based on category. You earn 4 points per dollar on dining. These can be redeemed at 100 to $1. So dining is an effective 4% back.

Your logic is to take as a percentage twice, resulting in an effective cash back percentage of .04%. Do you really think a product is offering that?

The amount of bad math in this thread is astounding

You... you are very bad at math. If you spent $60K at restaurants, you’d get 240,000 points worth $2400.

I’ve never seen somebody so baffled by a simple rewards credit card

like

Ok. What’s 4% of 60,000.

Coming from someone who plays the credit card game religiously, this is one of the best cards out there (even comparing to those WITH annual fees). Get it, keep it in your wallet, use it on restaurants.

Ironically, you can do better by paying for Uber with your AMEX Platinum or Chase Sapphire.

No % for Uber rides?

2400. And redemption is at 1%. 2500 points are redeemed ats $25. It says that in the terms and my post. Do y'all read or just blabber?

funny

AskSebby has a video comparing this to the CSR and CSP. What I got from it was that the Chase cards are still better if you can put in the legwork to find value. Another thing to note is that BarclayCard customer service is not great.

like

4% back dude. It's not 4 points for every $.

Again, spending 60k gets you $24 actual $

Wow OP. Lol I hope you're not in a quant related role because this is just frightening.

D2, barclaycard (who brands the Uber card) does a pretty good job with this from my recent travels. No foreign transaction fees and 4% cash back on a free card is hard to beat.

like

So I read the terms and it seems like a too good to be true deal. You get 4 cents for a dollar in points at restaurants. But redemption is at 1%. So you'll spend $60k at restaurants to get 2400 points which is $24 in redemption? Or am I bad at math?

smart

FWIW, I did the math for myself personally and I come out way ahead by using the CSR instead of the Uber credit card

like

If you use CSR at restaurants and use the points for travel it’s around 4.5% back. 4% straight cash back is hard to beat, and with no annual fee it’s definitely worth grabbing if you don’t have a CSR or don’t know if you will use the points for travel

like

I wonder if the card companies can recognize restaurant transactions overseas especially in more exotic countries like Asia where the language doesn’t even use Latin as the base

like

I have had this card for about the past 6-7 months. Love that there is no annual fee and to to date I've accumulated over $400 in CB. There's also no foreign transaction fees which I like.

Kind of a weird question, but if you have status at hotels is there any way you could finagle either free or discounted multi-day parking for hotels near an airport? Don't want to have to rely on ride sharing from my home if there is a stronger likelihood of rides near a hotel airport parking space. I am speculating that it still turns out cheaper than hotel parking. This is not for work so I wouldn't be able to expense it.
