Impossible to argue with this given how republicans have operated.

Interesting

Tbh, the transfer of power ceremony and acceptance of defeat/concession call is largely symbolic, but it does highlight a major feature of American democracy - the country is bigger than any one person. Trump’s refusal to publicly accept the outcome, and his role in intentionally perpetuating misinformation about the election outcome is not in the tradition of American democracy. Not sure if that means we are slipping towards authoritarianism?

Don’t be fooled by the banner image. The decline isn’t about just the insurrection. It also covers: representation (more picking of your voters vs the opposite), voter engagement (more hurdles vs easier access), checks and balances (court seems skewed conservative), access to rights (example - abortion/healthcare).

A year or 2 ago I would of said things will probably cool down but the opposite is happening. Liberals continue to push for their insanely drastic ideology and the Republicans can’t shake Trump. This is not going to end well.

Bad news is that we’re a nuclear power, and if we backslide far enough the implications for international security are not so great.

We’re a constitutional republic, not a mob rule democracy.

Also “mob rule” is not an actual system - it’s a hypothetical scenario which doesn’t even have much basic coherence, compared to the examples of how democracies actually backslide or fail

Is it normal for you to ever be “ghosted” by your administration? I feel like I’m constantly emailing, calling, texting, and meeting with them and nothing gets done. As soon as I leave their office, I’m ignored. If I email/text them a question or request, I’m ignored unless it benefits them. This is at a district where I travel between 3 schools and have 3 principals. They’re all like this and communication is especially important since I have to travel.

Thinking of getting a personal AMEX gold for the rewards and intro points. As the spending has to be significant to qualify for the 20,000 intro points and for it to make sense in general, has anyone else found that their credit score went down due to using AMEX as main spending card? I don’t really need a credit card per se and I just really wanna be able to accumulate points on my spending that I can use as miles/rewards… however not at the expense of my credit score!

Just giving a bit of Gyan to fellow fishers Please please do not ever use CTC comparison between current and next company. If you get an offer, do an in hand calculation. Some companies add Retirals like Employer PF, Gratuity along with Insurance, furniture allowance as part of your CTC. Others don't. Sone also have higher variable package. So when you do a CTC delta you may get a 20% hike but when you discount the above things you will fall short and may end up making less. So choose wisely.

The burnout is real. I’ve been a nurse for almost 10 years. Two of the which were in sales. I am likely going back to medical sales. If you’re wondering how you can do that, your first step to leverage your clinical knowledge would be to look for “clinical sales specialist” or similar jobs. Device companies are always looking for nurses but keep in mind you will be traveling a fair amount to get experience and then move to a true sales position (if that’s what you want).

I have 1 year research in Data Science and would appreciate any input! Thanks in advance.
