Anyone know if there is early promotion for PwC?
First year to Second year Raise Percentage. Go!
Hey there! I’m looking into a move from academia to industry. Higher education is a hot mess and my job has no formal growth opportunities. I am not paid competitively for my role or location. Plus, we just got our first raise in 8 years! It was about 2%. I feel like my passion is no longer serving me and the future I want to pursue. Tips for making the switch? I just had my final interview for an IFS research position at PwC.

Perhaps your monetary valuation of happiness is inflated?
Don’t judge your value by Glassdoor alone. Glassdoor is a joke. There is always someone out there making more money. Try to understand what the salary bands are for your title/level and shoot for that as a target. Know that as you grow, you should strive for the top of the band. Promotions take you to the next band.
Industry pay can be inflated by in-house roles. I chose pay over a place I was happy at and it backfired. Got depressed. Now I’m looking again.
I highly doubt it. I'm being underpaid at least 10K according to Glassdoor. I'm willing to make some compromises for happiness, but at a certain point I'd just be stupid not to keep up with market when I'm struggling paycheck to paycheck. Unless our whole industry pay is inflated.
I don’t mean to sound flippant or make light of your situation. We’re all reduced to rubble in this industry. There’s money to be made, but it takes years of bullshit to get there. I genuinely wish i was a creative. I would go in-house so fast. Working with my teams and seeing how beat down and abused they are is gut-wrenching to watch...and i know they aren’t happy. My point is simply that being paid well AND being happy are unfortunately (almost) mutually exclusive. If creating is what makes you happy, you’re ahead of the curve. Now just find a place, regardless of how sexy it is, and do it there. Personally, I’m not sure i like what i do or where i even do it. So I’m a bit envious of you
Oye vey, thanks for the insight on the industry! I wish I didn't have to choose between I guess I'll just take what I can get then, because I much rather enjoy being happy; I can make it work with the money. I appreciate your words, and I hope you find your happiness!
Thanks D1! That's what I try to do; I'm new to looking at Glassdoor. Right now, I'm not even in the band for my title/level so my goal to just get even at the bottom of that band honestly. Also thanks for that note CW1; didn't think about in-house affecting agency.
