There are a lot of tasks that I can anticipate will be delegated to me when I get looped into a deal. Is it annoying for me to send an email saying “I saw X email. Would you like me to do X?” before the partner/senior associate actually asks me to? I want to be proactive and also find it’s a good way to avoid late night/last minute requests when these smaller things slip the upper levels’ minds but I also don’t want to be a pest. Thoughts?

How does bringing in clients work as an associate? So many people reach out to me but when I start at my BL firm I’m unsure of how to go about taking them on… also do you think the firm would allow me to develop my own practice, even if it’s something small… for example business consultations… that’s something I could bill people at least $100 an hour for, maybe more…

The firm I am at has an hours minimum for the special bonus. I’m trying to figure out how many hours I need in July and august to still get the bonus on time (was planning on a vacation soon). Is the monthly estimate generally 8 hours per weekday in the month if the firm has a 2000 hour requirement?
