Pass him an envelope with a Christmas card and the money in it- simply thank him and tell him it’s a little something for the holidays.

That or instead of cash an Amex gift card.

I worked at a deli for many years before joining EY. I think giving him an envelope like EY1 suggested will make his day. They don’t get paid much, I was working 80- 100 hrs per week at $7 per hr and it took me 5 years to work up to $9. Happy holidays!

This post made my day. Thanks OP. You are a decent human being with great empathy.

Please do it. I did the same for my apartment maintenance guys last Christmas. They were so helpful throughout the year. Always prompt and smiling when they fix something in my apartment. I wrote them a handwritten note and gave visa giftcards.

Left a job in government (prosecution), currently at a mid-size firm. I’m really starting to not only hate law firm life, but the practice of law generally. Is this part of the transition? I left my last job because I was on-call 24/7. Now I’m 24/7 again but due to billable requirements. I have no hobbies, no free time, and only spend about an hour/day with my kids. Not sure I want this life. At least I had insane PTO for govt work.

Lots of post about kids so I’ll offer one that’s been on my mind. Why more than one kid? I grew up with a sibling. She is my best best friend but as I’ve gotten older realized we were more of the exception. Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one

Been getting approached by multiple recruiters for boutique consulting firms, and salary expectations never seem to align (mine are too high). I’m an experienced A in S& up for promotion fairly soon, which is why I benchmarked my salary expectation to SA level (140k base - even gave a slight discount there). More details: I’m happy where I am, with no great desire to move. Should I generally be setting lower expectations? What would your considerations be?
