P3, I drive for uber and and am happy not to talk to ppl. But I drive a few hours a week, so maybe not in the category you are describing.
How should I ask ppl if they want a quiet ride?
Honestly for me it depends on how drunk I am, if I'm drunk and alone I will chat up a storm with the guy. But I will talk to literally anybody. I'd say in the mornings you should probably keep quiet, unless they initiate, and just read the audience. If they pull out their phone and don't look up the whole ride they don't want to talk but if they don't then try chit chatting a bit, but if you're getting obvious one word answers then just abort. It can be awkward but it's a check
