Go if you feel like the people you meet will be worth $200 (Looking golf buddies? People for drinks at the driving range? People to talk golf outside of a golf course?) or go if the experience alone is worth $200.
Would def go with you if it’s open to the public but follow your heart on this one
The normal price for an individual golfer is $400 so the $200 is a steep discount. It says
"Join us for our inaugural golf clinic for a 2-hour lesson on chipping, putting, and the driving range with the golf pro! This clinic is for novice/beginner golfers, or golfers who just want to practice their stroke. Registration includes ticket to cocktail hour and dinner."
So I also get food and drink at this country club in CT...
Oh that's a good idea

Is golf still really a thing in 2021? Go if you truly enjoy the sport. Not so much if you want to use golf as a tool for career advancement.

And where did you work previously where it was so important… Pierce & Pierce?
Based on the way that you framed your post, I’d say don’t go. There are other ways to network.
If you can afford it, just go. But if you're going to be annoyed with spending the money, then just don't.
Priority 1: would you even enjoy it
Priority 2: is there a significant networking benefit
If yes to 1, go
If no to 1, don't go.
There are other ways to network without doing things you won't enjoy.
Also consider the benefits of just doing something out of your norm, but not if you've done it and don't like it (which sounds like your case)
No actually I've never played golf before so it would be a new experience for me
What course is it?
Rock Rimmon country club in Stamford, CT. So it have to get there from Manhattan without a car. According to Google i have to take Metro North to Stamford and then take a Lyft for approximately $25 each way.
Then I suspect will probably have to buy special golf clothes...

Well what are you aiming to get out of it?
If you remove the golf aspect, how valuable is this networking opportunity for you? Would having connections at those companies be worth the $350+ it would cost you?
Do you have golf clubs or is the rental also included in the cost?
I didn't think about that but I'm doing the golf clinic/lessons so I'd think it would...
You dont really need special clothes per say. If you have a nice polo and some chino shorts or something similar and comfortable shoes that should be about it. A hat for the sun is helpful.
Good grief SC… go to a department store (Macy’s, Kohls, Sports Authority)… back to school sales.
