There's a firm out there, Ryan LLC, that will not leave me alone. They told me a salary number I like but I can't find anything on these people. Anyone know anything? They claim to be national.

Run!!! Run far and quick!!

like

They told you a salary number without an interview and formal offer? Wow.

like

I'm former Ryan and I'm telling you to RUN! They are a national firm specializing in indirect tax consulting. You can make good money there "if" you work for a decent manager. They have done some real shady stuff in the market place and a lot of companies hate them now. I was worried that it would impact my career by staying and end up with the same unethical reputation.

like

Ryan has a history of suing their clients. They charge contingent fees, but drastically underestimate the value of of the benefit. Many of my clients have had an experience with Ryan, most of which are not positive.

like

They are on Glassdoor.

like

See I love posts like that. These are things I need to know and you can't find honest stuff on glass door. Why ey1? Why run?

like

Ryan is struggling right now to keep payroll from what I've heard. Way less growth potential, although the enticement of bonuses based on your team successfulness is cool. Minus the fact if you get a bad team.....not speaking from experience but I know a ton of ex Ryan folks.

like

Agree with the run comments. I work with ex-Ryan folks. Anywhere is better.

More consulting I think

Good to know. They didn't formally offer my anything they gave me a range of what they're hiring my staff class at.

They're national but focus mostly in reverse audits.

I know people who have worked there and agreed that it's a pretty sleazy company

Serious question. I constantly see income reports published that indicate only ~5% of the US population make over $250k, ~1% over $500k, etc. Is this actual W2 reported income? Do corporations have ways to compensate individuals so that their total comp does NOT show on their W2 (RSUs, Deferred Compensation, etc.)? Reason I ask is because I see great wealth all around me. I feel like these reports do not always tell the whole story in terms of TC & investment income.

I am a slowly losing my mind. I try to do my absolute best in all that I do, I work more than 40 hours a week with no complaining or expectation of anything, but I feel like my career has been spent getting kicked off the “ladder” just when I start to climb because I cannot always be “powered on” by 8:00 A.M. but I am the one that prefers salary because I don’t have to ask for overtime when I have a deadline or heavy workload and work until 2:00 A.M.

Decision - I was out the door of my nationwide ins dfense firm. Was going to top local firm with a lot more clout where everything would be private pay and I’d be more on bigger exposure cases. However, my firm outmatched the new firm, made a much better bonus structure, and said I could do more work with their complex bus lit group. I’d still likely do about 50 percent ins defense but I really like the partners I work for, and I handle own cases/take depos, and get autonomy. Am I right to stay?
