I have one for sleeping but it’s not ideal for when I’m on calls and trying to focus while working. Looking more for enforcement from the city to get him to stop.
In my opinion, you should 100% move if you don’t like it and figure out a way to deal in the meantime(white noise, noise canceling headphones, sublet your apartment, get out of your lease, ask for a different unit). There are quieter parts of the city — there’s no reason to disrupt a neighborhood and someone’s livelihood over this, especially when you can afford to live elsewhere and this was likely never to be a super long term living situation for you anyway. I can empathize with unexpected noise being an extreme annoyance, but I think we all need to empathize with the people around us when we choose to move into neighborhoods that are already occupied with established culture/norms.
I know cities have noise like sirens and traffic and I’ve lived here for years. But for someone to be outside your window day after day playing 4 songs (poorly) on a loop is in my opinion inconsiderate of people who live there.
When 1 person causes a disturbance for 1000’s, the most common solution is the 1000’s should move, because we feel bad for him...Anyone else think that’s a ridiculous thought process, or just me?
Pay him to play a song you like. Or move. You live in a city, shit like this happens. You’re like those wide eyed gentrifiers that come to into NYC and complain about the noise. Move to the suburbs and get ur peace and quiet there.
My god this is why we locals can’t stand the gentrifiers. You’re probably the same ones who complained about gogo being played in front of a store that occurred long before you showed up. You want peace move to the suburbs not the city.
You are grossly obscuring the actual point here. No one mentioned gentrification of culture or gogo music. It’s just loud music that is bothering people. Stop hunting to find a reason to get righteously angered, when it is just loud music. Loud music in any form (classical, pop, rock, r&b, yodeling, gogo, Gregorian chant) is annoying.
Lolll idk why y’all are billing obnoxious behavior as a charming neighborhood factor. And he clearly annoys a lot of people because someone called the cops on him. And don’t bring up gentrification. I worked hard to get where I am and I’ll live where I please. Everyone on here who works in consulting are technically gentrifiers so don’t give me that. Didn’t we do consulting to make money, or am I wrong here?
Loud music of any form is annoying... stop talking about gentrification. Loud music in any form is annoying. So stop trying to be the righteous neighborhood defender.
So I have a semi relate issue. The neighbors across the hall have lapsed in their rent (I know because I down the hall when the Police came to give them warning of eviction) right before Covid lock down. But now because evictions are not allowed (might be grossly simplifying it) they have become the worst neighbors. They were already bad with loud music at 2am and so much weed you can smell it throughout the halls, but now they are doing it 3 times a week. Loud parties with lots of people and much more weed well past 2am. I’ve called the front desk and apparently all the neighbors have as well (they already guessed the apartment number before I could tell them ) to complain but there is literally nothing the building can do about it anymore (without being able to evict them). I have no clue what to do... I guess call the police next time? These people are just using this non-eviction loophole to make the hall’s life worse.
Have you asked your apartment why they’re letting that many visitors up into the building?
I do think you’re at the point where you can call non-emergency if indeed they are just being inconsiderate intentionally, but I’d probably leave them a typed note on their door telling them the police have been contacted and will be coming out for the next party and then call if they continue anyway. This gives them the agency to stop before it escalates. I’m surprised your building hasn’t already done this though
Neither of those things are crimes by the way. It’s so telling what kind of people post here just by how fast y’all jump to calling the police for literally any inconvenience. What a privilege! People can smoke weed in their homes. Loud music is not a crime. Ask the apartment to fine them if possible?
Without being in the apartment how do you know there are lots of people there? There could just be 5 loud people.
Not saying they are in the right but sheesh y’all are so trigger happy to call the police (who are even more trigger happy in the worst way)
Noise canceling machine can work wonders.

PM1, Thank you!!
Move elsewhere but don’t expect people to conform to what you want.

OP we must be neighbors! I saw him yesterday walking the dog after he played the first bit of Amazing Grace 3x by the 395 ramp. 😖

Facts lol fair enough
Pay him $20 to stop playing for an hour.

help him out and ask him to play something different.

Pay him to move a few blocks over then. 😂
I’m really sorry. I live in the country and get mad if I can hear my neighbors (usually trying to peek over the fence) .
It's sad that he has to do this to earn money 😔
Pay for a song request?
Pay him to play a song you like
I can hear him too! He’s absolutely dreadful

OP is this your trumpet guy? This is my friend complaining about the same thing AND it’s in DC.
Yep. That’s down the street from my building.
Is it the guy that just plays Sam Smith?

Uhm... everyone knows the metro hires talent to perform at the station entries. This isn’t anything new. They’ve done it for YEARS.
Are you in Noma? We had a trumpet man for years but I think someone stole his trumpet
