There's been multiple remarks in my office saying that they wanted me on their engagement team because I'm female. I question why my gender is being considered as a factor? Thoughts? Is this sexism?

Might be sexism, but most likely not. Leadership makes an effort for teams to have an even male-female balance to the extent possible. If the teams they want you on are male dominated, they're likely just trying to make those teams more balanced.

I just want the D to V ratio to be added to planning.

In a thread about sexist comments, a sexist comment finally comes thru 🙄🙄🙄🙄

But shouldn't someone say they want me on a team because of my work ethic or skill set? Not because of the way I appear. If we are trying to create a world that doesn't see those sorts of things than why should me being female matter at all

Who cares why you got there? You won't stay there if that's the only reason. And you get the chance to change the team dynamics. Embrace it.

I've picked boys on my teams consistently for the past two or three years because all my teams had become ladies only (including myself). It's being inclusive.

In my opinion it's not a sexist thing. However, if you feel like it's a sexist thing, and that is you opinion, you are entitled to it and should approach someone to discuss it. Maybe it's something that you are misinterpreting how it's said. Without knowing the situation, this is my opinion m's it doesn't mean that it's right. Maybe the comment was meant to be, I want that girl on our team and not we want her on our team bc she is a girl. If it's the former, it's a compliment and should be construed that they want you on their team due your work ethic and skills. If it's the former, it could be something worth discussing with someone

STA 1, Not only is it a part of planning, it's a category under "required communications" with the client. Pertinent information.

When staffing a team a lot of factors play into it, including how the team will work together. Sometimes that includes adding a female to help balance the team out. But if you are wanted on a team, it will be because you are good and it is a benefit that you are female.

If someone wanted you on the team because you'd fix the D to V ratio, yes. Blatant sexism, and report that SOB. I can guarantee they saw your merit first then saw you being female as another bonus for the team. The best, most efficient engagement teams I've been a part of were a 50/50 split on M/F - diverse minds, better audit results.

I've seen a new male senior look through the list of females with availability and looked at their pics before making requests to pull them on his team.

Probably want some balance of men and women onthe team.

Dear God. Do not talk to HR. They tell the partners everything.

How do you feel about monopolies? I like the government pretends to split them up because the options help everybody. Diversity has many benefits. The most obvious is profits because a more diverse background creates more possibilities for problem solving.

If they start a quota system though, I'm with PwC.

Diversity is a tightrope sometimes.

I think tax may need to start consulting on this. For tax reasons.

@AS 1, thanks for bringing it back to reality. Agree entirely.

AS1 repackaging my earlier statement into a separate statement.
