There’s lots of big law users with prestigious backgrounds here, so we’ve made a bowl for the Underdogs at Law who persevere through difficulties. Bar admissions gap, long term unemployment, TTT and TTTT grads, sticker debt strugglers, law students in poverty, doc review hostages and more.

And it would be great to hear from former underdogs who ended up in a better position.

Absolutely this!

There goes like 60% of this bowl.
Am I allowed in? I made it into Biglaw after a JD from a ~100th ranked school and a couple years in a JD advantage job. I feel the inferiority. Before COVID, I sat across the hall from some SCOTUS/circuit court clerks and I could feel them looking down their nose at me.

Anyone can join really, just geared towards underdogs who are “predisposed to failure.” That’s TTT/TTTT territory so I’d say it’d be great to hear your story of how that’s impacted you, both past and present!
I like the idea of a bowl that gives voice to specific concerns raised by a group in the profession, but perhaps we could be a little less unkind and refrain from characterizing their law schools as "TTT" and "TTTT" (which, in my view, have pejorative connotations), and not operate under the assumption it was all a big mistake. Biglaw makes up maybe a quarter of our profession. Everyone else is working in different environments and practices. Also, lower ranked schools are often the main entrée for low income, first generation students, and people of color. Notwithstanding that sometimes those schools exploit that role and not everyone goes in eyes wide open, it feels a little more than just privileged to look down our noses at folks picking these schools.

The idea is a community to debunk the pejorative connotation under such labels we’re given and to give support to those that feel they’ve been shuffled into those negative labels. I wouldn’t have made the bowl if I wasn’t one of them!
