There’s no such thing as a perfect job.

I know there are definitely worse out there so it’s hard to put my foot down and resign, I could just stick it out for a year but am feeling demotivated and too exhausted to do anything else but sleep after hours/weekends. Have you ever started working somewhere and although nothing overtly wrong or terrible about the place / colleagues, it just didn’t feel like the right fit & if so, what did you do?

Yes. Stay longer and you will become complacent and risk being unmarketable. Stay where you feel challenged.

If you're unhappy, it's going to show in your work. And then no one is going to be happy. Start looking for a new position now. That way you can take your time looking for a good fit. I, personally, wouldn't quit before having another position lined up just because if you're feeling desperate for income, you might take another job that isn't a great match.

Do not let your mental health, happiness, and life outside or work suffer for a job. When you start to respect your time, others will too, including your employer. If they don’t, may be time to look elsewhere. This should be your beginning principle. Highly recommend.

I know I'm only an intern yet but it worked during uni. Times like that, I take the dip. Let myself not think about school or work during the weekends or I would do something that feeds the soul like taking walks or short trips. Feels refreshing and shifts things back into perspective when I get back on a Monday.

Yes I have, and I left to pursue something else. For me it is important to feel like I am making a difference in what I do, so I want to always make sure i have a role that supports that.

Either try to make the best of it and make it a better job, or find something that you can feel good in. We only have one life. Don't waste yours away being unhappy.

Why not talk to your doctor and consider a little
Break first? Before making an important decision like resigning make sure to be in the head space for it… get some social support + talk to your
Immediate manager about how you can make your role more challenging… consider a lateral move internally maybe ?

I was recently in a similar situation. Enjoyed my coworkers, manager, and body of work but I was so mentally fatigued that I decided it was time to move on. Accepted a new position a few months and finally starting to feel like myself again!

It’s scary to take the leap but go in with a positive mindset and things will improve!

I’m an SAE at a PR firm but would really like to transition into advertising. My last job I worked for advertising agencies to do PR around their campaigns (Adweek, Ad Age , FastCo, Campaign) and was able to speak with a lot CMOS at brands on their strategies, so I feel like it would be a really nice career pivot. My question is does anyone have advice on what level I should apply for at an agency? I have no marketing agency experience and only PR. I’m sure I should aim low but not sure how low
