There’s this newly promoted manager who I would work with a couple of times a year. He’s not one of my favorite people to work with, but I have been able to tolerate working with him the small CON’T..

...number of times that I have. Now, I’m scheduled to work with him for 6 months on various projects including a new client engagement. I feel this person does not know how to be a team player because on multiple occasions, he has essentially abandoned his teams and has shown to not be supportive when the team speaks up about being stressed. I need some advice with how to handle because this person has instantly gone on the defense when I’ve tried to politely discuss with him. I feel like this is going to be a long few months and not sure if it’s going to be my breaking point...

I work with quite a few oldheads in my department, I’d like to know how to convince the higher-ups that we need to evolve our strategies to bring us in line with best current practices. However, I don’t want to act out of line or be disrespectful since this is my first role and I have less than a year here.

Currently a first year staff in Risk Advisory in a Mid-Tier Firm hoping to move to Big 4 for either Risk or Cyber. When would be the most appropriate time to make the change? I heard that Senior Staff in mid-tier would most likely be hired as an “Experienced Hire” in Big 4. So would it be smarter to make the move now as a first year staff since I’ll be considered Experienced Hire anyway?
