Thermostat controls in hotel rooms are often placebos.

I carry around a pocket thermometer in my bag and complain to the hotel if it's not within 5 degrees of the thermometer and ask for points if they don't correct it. Don't fuck with my room temp.

Ok but like when I change the thermostat I can hear the fan turning off/going louder/whatever? And also if I turn it off and leave the room for an hour it is definitely warmer than when it's been on for an hour? Maybe I'm just crazy but I don't think so honestly.

C1 you're not crazy. Same for me. It's probably hotel-specific, and the article mentions overriding the controls when the room is vacant.

Delta reserve or Amex platinum? Cannot decide. Should I be considering any others? Help!

We’d like to take our first travel holiday since covid with our son who will be right around 2 yo. Considering asking our babysitter to join so dad and I can actually enjoy ourselves some of the time. We both work very hard and don’t consider time with toddler to be relaxing! But we’re also wondering 1. Is this too bougie? 2. How do we keep costs from spiraling out of control, Eg. 3 bedroom airbnb or two hotel rooms significantly more expensive/or just not as nice if it’s within range. TY!

Question about LEAPs. I purchased 1/2022 calls on a few down in the dumps real estate stocks like IVR. When I read about leaps, the advice was to buy some thing with a minimum delta of .70, So I bought, for example, a 1.50 call for IVR. If this stock reaches pre-Covid levels, and my LEAP is deep, deep lTM, will I have trouble selling it? Thanks, this is my first day.

Currently in audit, looking to do tax returns for friends and family on the side to make a little extra money. Two questions: 1) would the firm have a problem with this if it doesn’t interfere with my work? I assume no since the firm probably isn’t interested in filing my brother’s return (he is a union electrician). 2) I have no experience in tax (I don’t even do my own return), so is there a good software to use for this or what is the best way to learn how to do tax returns?

Interested in hearing anyone’s thoughts or experiences moving to a new market recently (since everything has gone remote). Currently an associate making cravath comp in a large city (not new DPW scale yet) but have been trying to move to a different market to be closer to family. New market is on the low range of compensation, but I’d continue to work with other attorneys in large metro areas. It seems like some firms are nationalizing comp. Any successful negotiations?
