Theyre making me sign a non-disparaging clause. Anyone had to do the same when fired? I want to continue talking shit, maybe even publicly. Theyre terrible firm, pays publishers to write about them- but in reality, high turnover and overall terrible people. What to do?

Given the 🔥 hiring market, did the layoffs 9-12 months ago cost firms more to just hire a bunch of people back? Firms paid severance back then to just now pay on boarding plus signing bonus plus training plus staffing.

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

I just got offered a job with a firm that has billable hour requirements. I’ve never had had billable hours. Is is appropriate to ask what the billable requirements are? I have a good idea from someone I know who works in a different department but want to confirm what they told me. They also provided vacation time of 3-5 weeks. I’m assuming that’s work weeks, but is that appropriate to ask for clarification? I don’t want them to think that’s all I care about, but these are important to me.

Mid term career direction: due to connections I know of an ID firm with an actually good reputation that is planning to open an office in my market within the next year. I'm a 3rd-year corporate transactional attorney with a private firm. Around 50 attorneys, which is as big as it gets for the state I'm in. I've become disillusioned with the partnership track career path fairly quickly and don't think it's for me. Before taking a large pivot and leaving the law entirety, I've thought about going in-house.
(1) Are there any downsides to going in-house too early?
(2) Would it make it more difficult to go back to private practice if I don't like that experience?

I don’t work in big law, but some of my classmates,who are going into big law, are bragging about the low number of billable hours they are required to hit. I’m hearing 1,600-1,800 billable hours. Is this actually true? Are some firms paying Cravath and only requiring 1,600 for the year? I know it depends on the firm, but can anyone actually confirm this is their experience? If so, then I’m a little jealous 🙃
