I only recently learned that there are effectively bidding wars happening for certain surrogates (eg those that are blonde hair blue eyed and went to Harvard command a much higher price). So yes, I am appalled by this sort of stuff.

I dk.

Well, TBH, as someone whose one (of many) reasons for why I don’t want kids is because the idea of going through pregnancy is SO unappealing and looks SO awful, I would consider adoption (and maybe surrogacy) as alternatives if I ever change my mind. Surrogacy would only be an option if my SO really wanted “his own genes” passed on. But, in that case, our values would also probably not align so it likely wouldn’t happen. I do support it for people who have actual reproductive issues. Sure they could adopt, and I would implore them to, but I get some people just feel like they need “their own.” Idk. You made me think. I revised this post several times now since I’ve never thought about it that way. Curious to see what others think. Edit - the idea of people bidding on certain kind of surrogates based on superficial features, now that’s a huge YIKES!

Well prostitution is kind of the same thing. People who are desperate and poor and don’t have access to any better jobs are the ones who will resort to it. Anyone who has a better alternative available to them will take the alternative. It’s just another the way that the poor are exploited

I have experience doing basic data analysis but not at the level of a data scientist. What would you recommend I do to gain these data scientist skills? I think the end goal would be to transition from cybe

I’m starting at M in August as a first year BA and was recruited through campus recruiting (specialized masters). I have 1 YOE at EY-P but went back to school due to immigration issues. Should I have done lateral recruiting instead of campus recruiting? Are experienced hires getting paid higher? If so, is there a way that I can communicate this to HR so I could come in as experienced hire instead? Thank you in advance for the help. McKinsey & Company
