Kinda goes without saying but the safest best schools in the suburbs are mostly not the most diverse places to live. But with that said I don’t know any places where you should feel out of place

I feel like diversity is tough in chi burbs. I live in Buffalo grove and it’s mainly a mix between white and Indian folks. My gf lives in Naperville and it’s just rich, white people. School systems are very strong in both areas. Both have the same distance to downtown Chicago. I will say, Naperville is more fun, but Buffalo grove is turning into a more youthful center in the next 5 years

funny

Naperville is definitely not only rich white people. That’s Hinsdale & Clarendon Hills.

Flossmoor is incredibly diverse. It's actually one of the things the town is known for. It's in the south suburbs and right on the metra electric line. During the week, you can take a 35-40min express train from Flossmoor to Millennium station. The schools are great and you get a lot of bang for your buck with real estate. The only downside are the property taxes. They are quite high. For us though, it was worth it.

Oak Park and Evanston are good burbs for city connection and diversity. In the city, check out Logan Square.

Less diverse but still not bad is Old Irving Park. Huge homes/yards right on the blue line.

Talk to a realtor

First decide city or burbs

West Loop or Naperville depending on if you want the city or suburb - and assuming you want to be near fellow desis. Obviously other neighborhoods and suburbs can satisfy your reqs as well, but in terms of schools, safety, desi shops & food, etc. these IMO accomplish it the best.

Oak park, River forest, Lagrange are all good options. The green and blue lines also reach oak park which is a plus.

Second this. Adding Brookfield, Riverside in this as well.

What are people thoughts on Clarendon Hills? It looks like every list of top suburbs has it up there? Looks nice, but is it diverse at all?

Not diverse, but great place to live. Fantastic schools, very community-oriented, no crime.

As far as suburbs: Park Ridge, Skokie, Evanston, Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Oak Park, Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Naperville, Aurora, Orland Park As far as city: Lincoln Square/Ravenswood, Roscoe Village, Lakeview, Lincoln Park Some of these may be slightly better or worse in terms of some of your categories, but they are overall pretty good in terms of the different attributes. If you have any questions about the northwest burbs, I am happy to answer as I went to high school out there about 10 years ago and my parents still live out there.

Quite disappointed that Bain ignored “LGBT” term and instead referred it as “special group” during a Greater China pre-MBA info session, when asked whether Bain has LGBT diversity program. Bain changed its logo into Pride on LinkedIn but can’t recognize LGBT? I know it’s China, but expect Bain to be more supportive across the firm globally.

I am currently unemployed but I am very curious about everyone’s company signature having she/her or he/him or they displayed. Are companies forcing people to write the pronouns you need to choose? I honestly never understood why somebody that wasn’t in the LGBTQ community would specify, and I know people are doing it to show support but if I started working again I don’t think I would want to put that in my signature. It seems political. What are your thoughts?

Quick vent: I really hate when people aren’t inclusive! I invite my roommate out all the time with my friends and we have a great time. I haven’t received a single invite back. She definitely has more friends than I do in the area so it would help me out a lot to be invited & included to form a friend group. I even tried to invite myself and still no inclusion. Ugh.
