Thinking about buying first property. Where should I start? Location/$$/agent/what else? Thoughts?

Start with getting pre-approved so you know your "safe" budget and your "stretch" budget. I.e. What you can afford on one income vs. both. The lender can recommend agents.

I used Redfin to buy in Charlotte. Really great if you like picking out houses you like yourself (very easy to do on their site). The realtor was awesome, they have a huge network of lenders, lawyers, inspectors, etc. And a week after I closed I got a check for a little over 1% of the purchase price bc they refund part of their commission.

Residential or investment? And where do you live/want to live?

Residential. Boston.

Redfin is definitely the way to go! Father picked off a couple investment homes after the recession that we found on Redfin.

I recently ended a three-year relationship and are looking to move to a new city to start fresh. I’m looking for an affordable city with good nature perks (mostly hiking, camping). With PwC’s wfh policy I’m able to not go to the office. However, I’m still early in my career and I still would like to stay reasonably close to a PwC office. I’m really interested in SLC, but I’ve also seen people saying it’s kind of conservative. I’m Asian and non US citizen so that’s why I have concerns.

I want to relocate to the UK from India, how difficult is it to move to a big 4 and move countries considering I've been in the industry (controller) for the past 3 years? I do have 4 years of Deloitte audit experience before this. Would it be better to join one in India and then try to move a few years later ?

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Firm laid off a good amount of people today. Would you bring up the topic that you’re open to a pay reduction (say 20% while not on a client full time) is a good move prior to them mentioning anything about your role or would you wait..?

Also, assuming you like the firm/job, see yourself there for the next 2-4 years, and 20% would suck, but not too big of hit if had to last through 2020 only.
