I’ve seen a lot of recruiters recently trying to hire for advisory consulting firms that claim they do the work that Big 4 can’t because of independence issues. Does anyone think these types of firms are sustainable or will big 4 find a way around the independence restrictions and take this work back?

Why you are fit for this role:
I’m in the initial negotiation for an offer and the recruiter presented me the first numbers. How should I interpret the “50k$ per year” in stocks? It means that every year I will have 50k$ vested stocks and potentially can sell them all or it will be just the 25% (or whatever fraction) of that number?
HOA - doing something without approval.....was planning to change my windows without hoa approval but my neighbour snitched. I came clean to the hoa and now I need to go through a 2 mo approval process and they might not even approve my windows. I paid 7k for them. I am now feeling regret for not just ignoring the hoa email and then still installing and dealing with the fine on the back end ? Thoughts? I’m also worried now that I’m on some radar. Am I overthinking this?
Waiting after the last round is hard! Interviewed last Thursday with founder, HR sent a "More news early next week!" on Friday. And now it is Monday. Early counts Tuesday, too, right? They are on the West Coast.
So nerve-wrecking! 😬😬😬😬😬
Boomer partners and IT...what’s your best story?

Hi Sharks, i'm looking for new opportunities at Microsoft. I have identified a few roles that I think qualified for. However, the job descriptions are not too clear on the grade level or day-to-day duties.
Could someone please explain to me the difference between a Digital Solution Specialist vs Digital Technical Specialist?
For context, I have 8 years of total experience in Enterprise IT with 4 years of experience on Azure. I'm now looking to pivot to a Tech Sales role in Azure.
Question related to relocation
Did you guys used vendors mentioned on relocation letter or used other vendors for ticketing or movers and packers?
Additional Posts in In-House Counsel
My new job occasionally requires me to review vendor agreements. I don’t have any background in this area and am trying to get up to speed. My department doesn’t have a document management system, so it’s tough to find old agreements as precedent. Any recommendations for books or other sources - or any words of wisdom? Thanks!
Hey 👋 In House 🐟 - how did you learn to sound more "lawyerly" when talking to clients early in your legal career?
Been practicing general insurance defense lit for two years. Interested in becoming a coverage attorney. What’s the best way to transition? Substantial pay cut?
If I have 3 years of experience, up to what year of experience should I apply to jobs for? It is ok to apply to positions that ask for max 5?
Anyone have any TX law compliant mutual indemnification language that contemplates responsibility for subcontractors?
Anyone here move from litigation at a law firm to advising on compliance in-house? How was the transition? Do you use Westlaw or other sources for your research? Do you like it better than litigation? Really nervous about this move I may be making…
Received my first recruiter call, went well and now I have a half hour call with the head of legal. I obviously want to ask about their department to compare to what I am currently doing. I wasn’t planning on jumping ship so soon. Any advice? What questions, if any, are off limits? Can I ask about their team moral? Communication? Delegation of responsibilities? Am I overthinking this??
Has anyone here been a company’s first in house hire, or been involved in the decision to make a first legal hire? One of my outside counsel clients (high growth start up ~4 years in) has reached out to me about hiring a GC and it potentially being me. I haven’t seen a client through this transition and setting aside the question of if I want to make the move, I wonder whether they’re actually at the point where they really need someone in house. Interested in hearing perspectives on this.
Does your company use a ticketing system to manage emails received by the legal department? What works and doesn’t work your team?
That client that sends you everything “for your review” even though certain things are purely business documents and don’t need a review… What’s your typical approach/response?
In-house counsel with <5 years experience - what is your compensation? And what industry are you in?
Yesterday a recruiter for a big media company reached out via LinkedIn about a role he was trying to fill. The role aligned with my background and honestly, I felt great that finally I was being poached. We set up a time and I sent my resume.... then this morning he cancels and blames that the position is being “put on hold”. How likely is this actually the reason/does this happen often?
I’m new to in-house and I begin in January. I wanted to basically better understand M&A and all the inner workings of expanding the scope of a business into new avenues. Does anyone recommend a book or two that may be relevant/helpful? On amazon, I see “The Art of M&A” and “Working With Contracts”. Thank you for any insight.
Interested in moving to big law because of the skyrocketing comp right now … am I alone?
How much is reasonable to counter on a first verbal offer for an in-house position? Maybe as a %? Current offer $225K + 25% bonus.
Any advice on a first year trying to transition from family law to in-house? I always thought family law was my path, and used to enjoy it, but it’s not the direction I want to head in anymore. I don’t think I even want to continue with any litigation work. I’m having a hard time finding firms that are hiring entry level associate positions that don’t require at least 3+ years experience in-house. Should I start at a business law firm to get experience working with corporations first?
Hi everyone! Wanted to poll the group—does anyone do corporate secretarial and corporate governance work for a public company (proxy statements, annual meetings, SEC filings, etc)? If so, do you enjoy the work? And, is it the kind of work that a corporate lawyer could pick up if they’ve never dealt with public company / SEC requirements before (but does have DE corporate experience)? Thank you!!
