Gold for food Platinum for travel

I agree. I have both and they pay for themselves. Also amex mariott card pays for itself if you use it right

Get both. Annual fees are offset by corporate advantage program and the other credits

https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/gcpadvantage/login/?eep=36010 Gives you a $150 discount on the Platinum and $100 discount on the Gold. All you need is an active Amex corporate card and to be part of a company that participates. Deloitte is part of the program — not sure if your firm is.

I have an Amex Platinum and I think it’s worth the annual fee for the travel perks ($200 credit of any fees on the airline of your choice, admission to some airport lounges, good status at most hotel and rental car companies, etc.). Since I use the card a ton, I rack up a lot of rewards points and have used them to buy things like furniture and pay for international vacations for my family. If you travel a lot and need to use your own card, it’s worth it. If not, then maybe explore other options.

Correct, OP. It’s a maximum of $200 per year towards other charges you incur on whichever airline you choose. If you use the same airline often, then you’ll probably get value out of it. I fly United every week and even though my status entitles me to up to 2 free checked bags on every flight and free drinks when I’m upgraded, I still wind up maxing out that $200 - which makes me think it might be good toward change fees.

Amex gold/plat are great for purchase protection as well. A hugely underrated and underutilized benefit. I believe plat has longer claim eligibility period than gold

Purchase protection protects you if your purchase is stolen, lost, or damaged! For example, if someone steals my phone within 120 days after I bought it, Amex will refund me the purchase price. A huge benefit I have used twice on damaged phones. DM me for Amex referral if you're interested

United Platinum here - got an offer to pay ~$6k for upgrade to 1K. Thoughts on if it’s worth it? Already belong to Club (United Infinite) and have CLEAR credit through Amex Platinum. Still have 40 plus points from hitting Platinum last year. Unlikely to travel for business until late 2Q at earliest but have 2-3 transcontinental flights planned for summer and 1 transatlantic for fall. Maybe another 1-2 shorter trips this year as well. I imagine I’d use my extra plus points on all these.

Anyone know of job opportunities for a UK qualified solicitor (corporate law) in Germany? Doesn't necessarily have to be legal counsel, open to other roles, preferably not a big corporate firm (mental health reasons). Would really appreciate any help on this, TIA.

Interesting tidbit in message from Kelly in our email: “…require us to evolve and better link pay to performance…” Wish that was really the case so hoping it is sincere. Right now, our fantastic feedback/dials mean nothing as people above our managers ,who work with and know us ,have no say. People above them, who have no idea what we do, determine our PBB and raises so we are lumped together in one group of people and not seen as individuals. CBS please evolve soon .
