They don't "micromanage your personal time" but you can't say, do consulting on the side that would compete or be similar to the work you do at D. And you have to declare outside employment because we are an audit firm.

I worked at Deloitte until last week and have been writing a book this whole time. I got it approved as an “outside activity” and as long as it’s not in the same space (digital transformation) it’s fine. Now getting time to write is another story. You’ll have to aggressively set boundaries and hold them, which is not part of the “do whatever it takes” culture where we just chase whatever unrealistic goal the partner has promised the client regardless if it’s possible or not. Not all projects are like that. But they do have a bad habit of overselling and understaffing. It’s pretty fking annoying, that’s why I don’t work there any more, but I digress…
Unstaffed? Mmmh some digital practices are actually over resources right now. It's not predictable to have people like yourself quit leaving gaps on projects.
No, this is great perspective Deloitte Digital 1. It’s interesting how some consultants have out in the open side hustles, jobs, even small consulting businesses but the paperwork I was provided said I wouldn’t be approved for outside work in GPS sector, although it is totally different from work I would do at Deloitte. I have a lot to consider. Thanks again!
I had 3 outside activities approved including writing and photography, was in the commercial side, maybe there is something different for GPS?
Working at Deloitte was definitely good for my resume so I would recommend it but not sure what you are balancing for consideration. You’ll have to make the call.
