I made a similar move. AMLAW to AMLAW and based my decision largely around the people I get to work with at my current firm. The second I realized what working with actual good people that want the best for me was like, it quickly became apparent how toxic the partners at my prior firm were. I too had better perks at my prior firm but those pale in comparison to not living with unhealthy levels of anxiety just because a couple parters were assholes.
I will say (though I’m sure you have) you should vet the firm you are lateraling to extremely well and the team you will be on. What are their priorities? Do the people at the top have families? Do the associates seem happy?
A good team that turns into a sort of family within a large firm is hard to come by but if you can get closer to something like that it makes how hard we work soooo much more manageable.

I had this situation once & it was awful. I didn’t make partner because of it & went to a smaller firm. If you have the chance to stay in big law & you don’t mind the hours, absolutely switch.
