Got an offer from Amazon but didn't get selected on H1-B. Currently on L1-B with another company. What can I do now? I can't really go to another country because my wife is employed here.
1. Is there a way for me to retain the offer until the next H1-B lottery?
2. My offer from Amazon was 50% higher than what I make now. Can I ask my current employer to match it?

Find a company with a well build out internal audit department (more likely to occur at huge companies) and get a feel for if they place people in other areas of the business after a few years
If you want to move into operations, you’ll have to do more than controls though. Internal audit does operational and financial audits in addition to controls
Yeah! One of the companies I have been interviewing with sounds exactly like this. Large public tech company that usually promotited within. Scope seemed to be 50:50 sox and business audits
My path was a few years at an external audit firm, 6 months as a contracted internal auditor for a F500, and then leveraging that experience to get my current position at Citi.
My advice would be that contracting positions sometimes can get your foot in the door at places that maybe wouldn't hire you since you're low on experience. It's how I got into banking when I previously had no experience.
Umm big clients won’t be doing substantive testing. You could try getting on a G360 client and see how that goes?
