Thinking about leaving EY for Slalom to join their CRM Salesforce practice. I’ve been slightly disillusioned with EY’s Cyber practice as the hours are long, clients are needy, and most importantly I feel that I’m not growing my technical skills. Slalom is offering a better work life balance and technical skills through a developer path. Should I stick with Cyber or make a career switch? Currently a Senior. I would appreciate your thoughts. Let me know if this post belongs elsewhere.

If you really want to grow your technical skills, then make the switch. Let’s face it, there are very opportunities in EY cyber for developers. Also you are early in your career, so if you don’t like it, get back into cyber later. The career field is not going away and with even your few years of consulting you will be marketable for a similar role any where.

Over the last three years my mfg company has had a lot of people leave and each time I take on the extra responsibility - from admin, payroll, benefits, compliance, safety, inventory and shipping. I literally do it all. And not only that, but I’ve eliminated and optimized a lot of wasteful processes in order to get it all done. I thought that it would all come with eventual pay increases since it saves the company over 300k in overhead. This whole time I should have been OE. I feel like a fool.

About to get a payout from a legal settlement ($300k-$500k). How would you invest it or what would you do with this money if you got a payout like this? My goal is to build exponential wealth, but would love everyone’s thoughts even if it has nothing to do with investing! (I’m 25, not married, no kids, have about $240k in student loans, and no savings)

Like a lot of others, I’m underpaid. I’ve been with my company for 3 years having worked various roles and have been working as a researcher for a couple years now.

What are the chances I get the adjustment I deserve? They will need to bump me up 35%. Am I being foolish or do I need to look elsewhere?

Do creative directors have to manage people?
I don’t like managing people, especially juniors who are still figuring out their career paths. But at my company, in order to be considered a leader, you have to manage people. I see myself as a leader, contributing ideas and strategy… I just don’t want to deal with developing performance goals and compensation. Is this the case everywhere? Can I be a creative leader without managing?
