Thinking about making a switch from Audit Big 4 to I-Banking. What have you heard? How do I make this happen? Anything I can do now to make the transition easier?

Honestly, I'm curious if anyone has any useful advice, but for this scenario I have none (unless you are from a TOP school, then you might have a slim chance).

Tbqh, this post comes up a lot here and it seems there's never any real answers. Everyone always knows someone who had a manager who had a senior, etc...if you're serious, hopefully you went to a very good undergrad school and have some contacts, whether they be alumni, friends, or relatives in the ibanks. Otherwise, it's not very likely they would even bat an eye at a candidate with an audit background.

Be prepared to work 80 hour weeks year round. Be prepared to work 7 days a week and have zero life outside of work. If you're prepared for that then I suggest trying to find someone you know working in the industry. You'll almost certainly need an inside referral.

Go get a top 5 MBA and spend a majority of your free time networking with those in the industry.

^what was their experience as an Ibanker? Hours, type of work, etc...? Do they enjoy it?

like

Do you really need a Top5? I always thought a Top 20 was sufficient?

My friend was fired from Halliburton, went to a 1 year MBA program, and got a six figure offer from Vanguard. So it's possible...

Get in to TS (preferably FDD), kill the gmat, get in to a Top 15 MBA and there you go

She started this fall, hates the job but she's good at it. 9-5, don't know about clients but she keeps telling me to get my MBA and join her.

She's in equities. Whatever that means.

Currently job hunting. I know a few retired C-level executives who tell me that they would hire me at the director level in pretty much any role (despite currently being an individual contributor) because I'm extremely driven, a life-long learner, a natural leader, and deeply educated in diverse fields (PhD in engineering and MBA in analytics). However, I can't seem to land a senior role. How do I convince an executive to take a gamble on me based on my past success and strong future potential?

Do internships count towards years of experience? I held my first design internship in 12th grade (2016), and have since held at least one internship per semester throughout college, all related to my career path - but they were all part time. In my last semester of college (May 2020 grad), I worked as a full time contractor for 18mos. I freelanced after, before working as an FTE the past year.

When asked how many years of experience I have, how should I answer?

Thanks in advance!

Also worried about career prospects. I've been wanting to turn business facing, but becoming the only DA on a DS team seems like it'd be a dead end with promos?

Capgemini I joined sometime back at D1 level , I do technical work most of time like coding, dev, testing etc.
I have worked a lot in my 14 years and still have required skills needed for the work. I don't have energy to slog any further. Moreover I get anxiety when I see junior level people doing same work as me and earning more or same.
I feel cannot sit longer hrs due to back issues and other health issues and family commitments.

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns.
