Thinking about selling everything I own, my firstborn, and become homeless so I can put all my money into my 401k. Is this a good financial decision?

How much are you getting for the child? That info is needed for the financial analysis

like

If they can walk they should be able push a lawnmower. To be fair, if they make enough to cover your expenses, which you could use for your 401k, they should keep a little and put in a Roth IRA for themselves. You can take turns staying awake guarding the mower so no one takes or let while you sleep in the street. The more I think of it, it may be easier to sell the child.

Well are you planning to live in a van or just the street? Because you’d have to calculate that expense as well. But selling the kid is definitely a good choice, that’s a big expense. You don’t need that pressure my friend.

Just the street. Can’t have the van expense take anything from my 401k

Yeah go for it but I’d recommend also cleaning out your 401k and putting it on Dogecoin

Given the news from Monday, you may have some success selling your child on Facebook. Try there.

Well looks like all issues about that are resolved now that Facebook is now meta

What 401k? Gov will be needing that to “build back better”

Nothing wrong with that, that’s how our ancestors lived for thousands of years as hunter gatherers. If they can do it so can you

I love when people on here talk about consistently maxing out both Roth and 401k. Like damn bro you got 26k lying around every year?

This app skews heavily towards the top 10%, if not 1% of earners, given it initially grew its user base within consulting. Keep that in mind as you navigate personal finance posts.

I just found out I’m pregnant this morning. I have an offer for an in-house job which I’m thinking about to accept but they only provide 10 weeks maternity leave. My current firm offers 18 weeks. Should I stay for the maternity leave? I’m doing great in my current firm and received positive feedback in the performance review last week. But I know I’m going to move in-house eventually so I’m worried if I miss this opportunity it may not be easy for me to land another job.

From the Deloitte sponsored plans, narrowed down to these 3 - Anthem Bluecard PPO, Aetna Select, UHC PPO. I am currently enrolled for Anthem Bluecard PPO and looking for other best options, if any. Also, if I get pregnant in December and switch to any other from Jan, will that works or the new insurance provider might raise a concern to cover the expenses? TIA!

Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls

Hello Fishes. I have received positive feedback from KPMG interviews for consultant position and have submitted documents. I was told I will be getting a call from HR for negotiation in a day or two and then final offer letter will be rolled out. It has been 4 working days and I haven't been contacted yet. Has anyone faced such delay? Or Is it something I should be concerned about?

I took a new job in order to move across the country for my husband's promotion and I hate my new job. The role sold to me by the recruiter and company leadership is not at all what I am actually doing. I am so overworked it's unreal. At first I thought that maybe I just sucked, even though I'm a seasoned sales professional with 11 years experience, but then I found out that I have 227 accounts vs the 35 & 64 that my counterparts have. Just got notified by the client that a bunch of people are going to be on vacation over the next few weeks. Completely understandable, but from a billing perspective that kind of sucks. In a pre-covid world you were at the client site and could always bill your time no matter who took vacation, but in this WFH environment there is no more billable “downtime.” Thoughts?

Anyone else questioning getting an MBA in light of the pandemic and shifting sentiment on remote work? I started a job that’s fully remote and flexible. It’s in a fast moving industry and I feel like taking 2 years away can make me miss out on expected growth that will take place. 2 year grind and then working at some 9-5+ job that won’t be flexible and will likely have to go in office once things are back to normal. With current job I’m making good money and have more personal time.
