Consulting

Thinking about switching from D to FTI Consulting. Good move?

How can we tell you whether or not that’s a good move with literally no information?

Understandable. I was looking to see if other fellow D’ers have made the switch, and what their take was. Been in M&A services for 5 years now. I enjoy D, but feel I’ve grown out of it and looking for something new. FTI seems more like a boutique/niche firm, so I was wondering if the client base and exit opportunities would be as good. Of course I’d like more money, but more interested in learning/growth, this early in my career. Thoughts?

Why do you want to switch?

Must come with $$$

The D automotive lead just came over so ask him. FTI has nice folks but is limited to what type of projects - good in food, CPG, retail & logistics; limited everywhere else. No tech - other than RPA.

Taking a poll - do you find it insulting that (most) IFS roles only require a high school diploma? Pretty sure most of us have AT LEAST a bachelors degree and are expected to deliver at that level.

CMV: The era of traveling consultants is over. Yes, life will go back to normal and travel will be safe again, but not until enough time/experience has passed for consulting firms and clients to realize the weekly on-site travel is unnecessary. Limited travel will still exist and maybe more at senior levels. Regional/local travel will be the norm. Consulting will remain a popular career starter for exit opps and continued high pay, but not for travel/expense perks.

How do you balance exercise and working 12+ hours per day? I’m typically expected to be on client site from 8am-8pm (if not later). My SMRs don’t understand the need

Ladies, how do you help a guy who is just not good at flirty texting? Seeing someone and he is so passive and vanilla, especially these days it’s kind of a problem.

I know imposter syndrome has been discussed a lot here and it’s something I’m working through. A girl in my MBA class told me “Of course you’re good at giving presentations-you’re pretty and blonde.”

Sometimes I feel imposter syndrome. Then I see people who are supposed to be high-powered execs do stuff that’s dumb as fuck. Wrong form of your/you’re. Misusing ellipses. Less/fewer. Typos abound.
