Thinking of buying a DateJust 41. I like the look and have an AD who can hook me up with minimal wait time but I’m lost in the array of options - fluted vs smooth, dial color, Roman numerals or not, etc. Curious what the general sentiment is on this. Also, does a DateJust hold value just as well as a Sub?

Here are the Datejust rules from the official Rolex Rulebook, as filed in the official Geneva Library of Rules:

- Datejusts have blue dials. Period.
- You get to choose EITHER the fluted bezel OR the jubilee bracelet;
- Fluted bezels are recommended if it won’t be your only/main watch

Nah, think most would disagree

OP have you tried on the watch? I was set on getting a DJ41 but when I tried on the DJ36 it suited me much better.
Even with the DJ41 I felt the Roman numerals took up too much of the watch face.
I went with a blue DJ36 with sticks, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet and I think it’s a stunning watch but I may be biased 😂

I tried on the blue and rhodium (=grey). The rhodium is great and in a vacuum I’d go for it, but the blue one just pops even more.
Wimbledon is really cool, but IMO in a less traditional, timeless manner.

Fluted vs. Smooth

100% go for fluted with jubilee. I love the blue with Roman numerals. My father gave me his 36 after high school and I purchased the 41 last year. It’s so sharp, classy, and still unique. Goes with anything and I always get compliments, while still being relatively low-key.

Nope, I think that’s what makes it stick out vs the sticks. All are gorgeous. What I like about the Azzurro blue is that it really shifts based on the lighting.

What I know I want so far:
- DJ 41
- gray or blue dial
- jubilee bracelet
- no yellow or ever rose gold

What I am undecided on:
- fluted vs smooth
- Roman numerals or not
- Wimbledon dial (?)

Also, blue dial has a couple different color variants. The lighter blue (Azzurro) only comes with Roman numerals.

Would highly suggest jubilee if you’re doing fluted. That’s the classic Rolex combination. Fluted bezel with oyster bracelet is a makeshift sports watch that’s too delicate to be used as a sports watch because of the fluted bezel but that will never be the true Rolex DJ. You’ll regret not getting jubilee with fluted bezel down the line. I’ve had both and can tell you that the fluted jubilee combo is the best IMO.

I used to wear my blue DJII, fluted on oyster all the time until i switched to a sky dweller because I wanted a DJ in a larger size

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??
