Thinking of deleting one design project that I’ve been working on before I quit because my company doesn’t deserve it. Will there be any serious issues?

My POV is while I’m on THEIR payroll, I’m all in and a good corporate soldier. They’re paying my bills — you can’t in good conscience do what you’re proposing to do; it’s just bad form regardless of the situation imho

like

Depending on your contract, your company may own everything you do on their time, servers and computer. I would not do this, there could be real repercussions.

like

You need to be smarter than this. If you’re bound and determined to make it unusable, then do that. Make the source file a corrupted or blank one. Save a pdf draft of it, but with pixelated images instead of text fields. They’ll think you’re an a$$, but you’d be a compliant a$$. IMHO, you may be thinking its value is higher than it actually is tho.

likehelpfulfunny

It will make you feel better and empowered in the short terms. However where are your own values? Living up to how you pride yourself is important too, for the long term. That is what staying professional is about.

That’s a pretty big legal issue. You’d be destroying company property in most cases. Better off just walking away then risk of a lawsuit.

like

Yeah, this is solid advice. Just walk away. The best revenge is always living well (and with a clear conscience).

Design it and flatten it 🤣

Kidding, look think of your own future, career and reputation, in this case you'll have to be the bigger person and have your own back.

You're a VP, act like an adult.

like

Is there a contract related to the design project or is it something you’ve been doing in your “free time” as a +1 activity? I also assume you’re not worried about burning bridges?

like

Bad karma and burnt bridges, as mad and maybe validated your feelings are, I wouldn’t do it. Think about the designers who are gonna have to make up for all the lost work, they weren’t to blame.

like

Review the contract you signed, most likely they own all projects you’ve worked on and by deleting it, you would be breaching your contract. I know a former coworker that was taken to court over this kind of behavior.

like

“Doesn’t deserve it” sounds super childish. If there’s more to it, please share. Otherwise it seems like you’re burning bridges and being unprofessional.

like

Weird that people are this malicious, you’re on track to being a CEO!

like

Why do you want to do this? What's the point?

like

Seriously?! If you’re a full-time employee “your” work is owned by your employer. Quit and find a different job if you’re unhappy. Don’t burn bridges…ever.

My opinion for you as a VP I would not recommend doing it. You worked on it either on their computers, at their facility, or on their time. More than likely the company would own it according to any contracts you sign. That’s a bridge burning scenario.

What do you mean, “they don’t deserve it.”?

I personally wouldn’t hire you if I found that out you did that behavior. Thinking of doing it out of anger and frustration isn’t a good thing but normal for a terrible place. Doing it is totally another.

I kind of think this is fake scenario just how it’s worded.

Yes for anyone else on your team. I've had three people over years - all at different positions at different times/places do something like that. Every time it was us or other people on the team they affected. No one they were upset with as the least affected or cared. You'll actually end up just creating a headache and problems for people probably unrelated to whatever your grudge is. So you will end up burning bridges, just not the bridges you think and still won't accomplish what you want.

Quick way to get yourself blacklisted among companies and creatives

1. Don’t do it cause it could lead to legal implications.
2. You might be angry at the company but think of your team members who need to redo the work or face the consequences because of your actions.

I don't now the full situation that has you upset with your current employer but I would always recommend to stay professional. Even if they have been unprofessional.

Wow, that is not okay. Please set your successor(s) up for success, not failure, regardless of how much you may hate the company, etc. Burning bridges and making other people's lives slightly miserable for a short period will come back to haunt you.

Hey everyone! I am a student finishing up my last year at university. I was working in real estate and then became a loan officer for 2 years. I made a switch from mortgages to a food supply wholesaler as a regional sales/project manager managing the accounts for a couple states. I thought it would be pretty steady compared to how volatile interest rates and the finance realm is rn. Can anyone offer insight into the food supply market right. Ik everything is pretty crazy and it’s all relative.🤝

Is this a red flag? - I interviewed for a financial analyst role with a company -

Had several rounds of interviews back in May, all signs pointed to that they all loved my resume and personality and I made a great impression. I was told that the role was on hold due to “beaucracy” but the hiring manager from the role has kept in touch. He then reached out to me yesterday asking if I’m still interested and want to move forward..no offer letter, just gauging my interest.
