I’m currently in the program slated for graduation in May 2021 — feel free to let me know if you have any specific questions.
As an overview: it’s a highly technical degree that tests your self sufficiency with regards to coding and analytics principles. I had to learn a lot of coding on my own (java, python, C++, and R) but I can wholeheartedly say that this degree has been amazing so far. The program does a great job in integrating real life case scenarios into the analysis - so you almost get a grasp of what life as a data scientists feels like!
Thank you DS1, you’ve been more valuable than all the sites and advisors I’ve talked to put together haha. I’ll keep in mind the ISYE 6501 course and the course with dr Sokol that you mentioned earlier.
I did Industrial and Systems Engineering at Tech for undergrad. The MS in Analytics is done as a partnership between the college of computing, industrial engineering, and Scheller college of business. All are very highly ranked (IE school has been #1 for like 30 straight years or something crazy) for undergrad. I have some peers that are doing the online MS and seem to enjoy it.
OP, the program was heavily influenced by leaders from the Accenture Applied Analytics leadership to be academic, but cover what we want a person with an MS to know. Very different from the Harvard program which is much less technical, but sets someone up well to direct what they want Data Scientists to do. Both are excellent, just targeting different outcomes.
This is great thread. I was wondering if someone could help clarify the difference between the GeorgiaTech OMSA and Berkeley’s MIDS program? GTech seems to be over $50K cheaper!
Thank you for sharing your insights D1. Great to hear from someone enrolled in the program. Also appreciate hearing how you felt the program helped expand your client delivery toolkit.
This one is generally well regarded, it’s a high quality online program
I am starting this fall for masters in cyber online
I got selected for Fall 2020 batch. Thinking whether I should do it or not given the workload and family
D1 how much math did you have? Also admitted for Fall 2020 and furthest I got in college was Calc 1. Currently taking Imperial college London' mathematics for machine learning Coursera set to get a crash course on Linear Algebra, multi-variable calc, and PCA
How do you apply/gain acceptance into the program?
