I’m not. But, it might be helpful to know what you’re currently a director of. Social? Strategy? Production?
I’m in Biz Dev now
After over a decade of client services and being a professional middleman and jack of all trades… I’m dying to get a new role and go do like New Business where I make a good impression with clients, pitch, get the company business, help with transition and contracts… and never speak to those patronizing, self-righteous, entitled assholes again.
But for now, I will deal with them, long term, day in and day out, until that day comes.
Account services can be great and it can suck. Internal team makes a huge difference, your manager makes a huge difference, and most importantly a good client or a shot client can make or break your mental health.
It’s been a long COVID WFH… don’t mind me. It’s also 1 AM and I’m going on vacation for the first time in years in the morning and I’m drunk packing so just take that as it is.
Started in account and transitioned out and it was the best thing I could have ever done for my mental health. If you had asked me while I was in account if I could work in agencies for the rest of my career I would have laughed/cried.
Agree with the drunk packing VP1 (enjoy your vacay!!) that the client will make or break the role for you. For me, the fact that I literally felt on call at all times… that at any moment a client could call or email… whether it was late at night, on the weekends, etc. It was just too much and felt hard to get any real breaks.
