Chill the L is great
Took the L train all 4 years of high school (including weekends for sports) and never had a problem. Not this isn’t ages ago, I’m 22. So agreed, the L stands for Litty.

These fears are based on very outdated information. Williamsburg has one of the best vibes around. Living on the L is the best possible train situation for easy Manhattan access. Almost every time I go out on the weekend, for the past two years, it was leaving Manhattan to go to a club in Brooklyn that was right along the L.
Yes there are Manhattan people who have an "ew, Brooklyn" reflex, but, they are noobs who don't get it, and maybe they don't realize that Sex and the City is an old show from 20+ years ago, and a lot has changed since the girls all sat around a table at Cafeteria drinking appletinis and making fun of Brooklyn.
Also the L train was shut down for tunnel repairs way before covid, it was a huge nothingburger, the trains ran every 20 mins which was a pain in the ass but hardly enough to change the culture, and it's well over and done with.
But good luck finding an apartment! W'burg is a tough market. Unless you are rich, you might have to look in neighboring areas. and then yes the trains and scenery become a bit less attractive.
@C2 oooh thanks for the recommendation!

The L is amazing like 95% of the time. Straight shot into Manhattan and it connects with most other lines. The other 5% of the time it randomly stops and you’re screwed with no notice.
Lorimer L stop in Williamsburg also has the G which is a quick ride to anywhere in brooklyn or the 7 into queens or manhattan
L is the best. Recently updated and very reliable. Very convenient to different lines. About 12 minutes to Union Square from central Williamsburg. Not to mention peak commuting times are no longer a thing.
If you like having easy access to all New York has to offer on the weekends especially during the summer - don’t rely on the L
Live in Wburg for 2.5 years now and through the L partial shutdown fiscal, and honestly can say the L is great now. Runs on time and has updated signals.
The G doesn’t even go into Manhattan… living in Williamsburg doesn’t leave you entirely stranded. Depending on where you live, you can reach the L and the JMZ which go across the Williamsburg Bridge. There’s also the ferry ⛴
The L project was completed in the fall ahead of schedule. It runs pretty consistently. I have a rule to never ride the subway past 11pm in general regardless of neighborhood, so the L suits my needs 70% of the time and I’ll take it when I’m on my way to going out in Manhattan and cab or Uber back. You also will realize there isn’t much need to leave Williamsburg often - it’s fucking awesome over here.
The L is one of the fastest and most reliable trains in the city. The G is awful but will get you throughout Brooklyn (eventually). And the J/Z isn’t great but is pretty convenient to downtown.

Yes but you don’t really need to come into Manhattan if you can work from home since there is so much in Williamsburg it really isn’t that much reason to leave!
You guys are very helpful!! Thank you!
