Thinking of starting a Twitter account to post case law update and news specific to my practice area . It would not be affiliated with the firm - I would just be tweeting practice area-related topics in my personal capacity. Yay or nay? Should I run it by the firm first? I work at a boutique and manage the firm’s social media pages but I would like to start my own.

Many firms have social media policies that apply to personal accounts, so I would definitely run it by your firm. You’ll likely have to include some disclaimers (e.g., your views do not constitute legal advice and do not represent the views of your employer).

Seeking advisement on HELOC…..
Currently married with one child. Own two condos in the state of Hawaii. We moved in with my in laws to get some help with our 2 yr old during Covid. I owe about $150k (market value $530k) on property one and owe $490k (market value $790k) on property two. My wife and I both work and have a combined gross income of $370k/yr. With about $120k in liquid cash, should we try pay off prop one and get a heloc for a SFH?

Hi Fishes,
I recently got shortlisted for a Product Manager position at Tracxn. There’s also an IPO coming up which is the reason I had applied.
But I have read some horrifying reviews about the company on Glassdoor, indeed and other forums.

I’m wondering whether it’s worth going through the interview process and I’d also like to hear opinions from anyone who has worked with the company or is aware of the company culture.

Thanks.

How much do you need in free equity to begin RE investing in either flips or rentals?

We own a rental property that has appreciated quite a bit and have the opportunity to do a 30-yr cash out refi at 75% LTV that would leave us with about $200,000 at the end of the deal. Rent currently wouldn’t cover the costs and we’d need to deploy the cash and earn about $750/mo to break even. We’d ideally like to use the money to invest in other property and syndicates. Seem like a good idea? Not sure if we are over leveraging ourselves and it’s worth the risk.

Someone please tell me where in tf I need to drop my Hinge location in the DMV area to find my person. I’m in Baltimore and am getting frustrated/losing hope after only finding guys whose time would’ve been better spent focusing on themselves to be emotionally available and ready to date rather than dating as a distraction. I’m convinced I’m going to die alone. And if you have a single guy friend in that area who is a genuinely good person, please let me know 😂

Took my first vacation (1 week) in over a year to visit family. Was bombarded by emails from one partner asking me to complete non-time sensitive motions, which he hasn’t even bothered to review. This is my third firm in three years (first I left as I was severely underpaid, second I left for a 100k increase in salary), but this lack of respect for my boundaries has made me want to move again once I’ve completed 18 mos. Bad? They don’t do this to the other associates (all male).

I'm going to my first partner retreat in May in a spring break-ish destination spot. Post pandemic, I feel like a manatee. I still don't really have to go into the office, so most people know me from Zoom. What is appropriate female junior partner attire at one of these things? Business casual, or more resort for meetings and events? (I have zero intention of wearing a bathing suit at any point.)

Recalling my first onboarding meeting in-house with the c - suite. Thinking back now recalling that they would often mention if someone they are referring to is a woman. For example, "Oh we have these two women doing x, y, and z and they do it well, a well-oiled machine." etc. I was the only woman in the room. They did not mention when someone performing a particular role was a man but they did point out when it's a woman, happened about four times. Odd, no? What would you make of this?

Making the switch from public to private sector. What questions do you wish you would have asked about your firm in informational interviews?

For the married and/engaged ladies, did you have any pre-wedding jitters? I recently got engaged (yay!) and I have felt for a very long time that my partner truly is my soulmate. I don’t have any reservations or hang ups about marrying him, but the sole idea of a lifetime physically makes me anxious. I feel guilty having these feelings when I couldn’t be more certain about the decision to marry him. Can anyone else relate?

I hung out this weekend with a work friend of mine. We’re both junior, but I’ve been on FMLA due to an unexpected illness so have been away for a bit. I know that I screwed up on some files before I was diagnosed which I feel awful about and have been trying to rectify (unpaid), but she spent a lot of time cataloguing the ways in which I messed up. It was supposed to be a nice weekend for once and I’m feeling more beat down than ever 😕 just not sure how to get the motivation/nerve to go back!
