Thinking of starting mental health treatment. Can anyone explain the difference between psychiatrist, physiologist and therapist and who should I be seeing for stress and depression?

I’ve seen both psychiatrists and psychologists over the years. As noted above, it depends on what you need - I started with a psychologist for therapy and added on a psychiatrist when we decided to also treat with medication. One note - it can take time to find the right person to talk to for therapy - if you don’t click with the first person you see, don’t give up!

Psychatrist: MD that can prescribe meds on top of regular therapy. Psychologist: someone who got a BA, MA or PhD (in that case, is also a doctor but not an MD) in Psychology, they do counselling and therapy but they cannot prescribe meds. Therapist: anyone who attended an online class with therapy in the title. You should see one of the first two and see with whom and what kind works best for you, also which one is covered by your insurance.

Depends which country you live in... but I made a mistake about BA.

You can go to a LPC or LMFT. These are typically people with Master’s level degrees because the certificate tests are difficult. Your insurance should have a search functionality so you can find the professional that best suits you. For stress and depression any one with the above certificates can help. I would focus on credentialing and actually finding someone who you mesh with. Anyone on your health payer’s website will be properly credentialed. I hope you get to feeling better.

What city are you in? Individuals here or in the mental health bowl may be able to provide a recommendation for good therapy practices

Anyone else work at a company that has a great pay and benefits, but ultimately dissatisfied because of the line of business? I've come to realize that working at a company, say DoorDash, doesn't really interest me since the product itself doesn't seem to be that interesting to work on. What are some companies in tech that are tackling interesting problems like in health care or climate?

Hi Guys, recently I received offers from 1. CTS & 2. EY GDS. EY offer is way lesser than my 1st offer from CTS, citing my low current salary. So, I haven't accepted the EY offer yet in the hope that it will be revised. Tech : SAP BW & SAC Planning, YOE 13 yrs, role offer : SCON 3, 26.5 fixed. I believe I should get around 32 fixed & HR is low balling me both on role & salary. Suggest me some strategies to get this offer revised.

I need recommendations on how to approach the “Santa” topic with a toddler. I don’t celebrate it in my culture so I’ve never believed in Santa. I don’t want to tell her that Santa will bring her gifts etc, but I don’t want her to feel left out when all her classmates and friends get gifts from Santa. But I also don’t want her to “ruin” it for her friends.. I don’t think she’ll be able to keep the “Santa isn’t real” secret to herself (Cont)

Have any of you taken FMLA leave due to a positive COVID case for a member of your household? My husband just tested positive for COVID and I am not sure yet if my 2 toddlers have it. In any event, even if they are healthy, they can’t go back to daycare for awhile so childcare is all on me. I’m wondering if I should apply for FMLA leave so I don’t completely crash my hours, but I am also not sure whether this situation qualifies for FMLA.
