Hi ladies!
I have my video interview with Liberty Mutual tomorrow for a licensed customer service role. Oddly, this morning I get an invitation to interview with Farmers for a claims customer service associate. I know the salary for the LM role, but not the Farmers role. Does anyone have experience with either? They are both great companies and I want to make sure I’m planting my feet with the right one. Thank you!Liberty Mutual Insurance Farmers Insurance Group

I also switched last year from PwC.
Are you staying in the same service line? If so, I don’t think it will be a big change in terms of what you will be doing. Different terminology is used but audit methodology is pretty similar. I would say KPMG is stronger in certain quantitative aspects but is still playing catch-up to PwC in terms of technology integration. Assuming you’re staying in tax, I would imagine that there would be even less in terms of change
PROS In my experience, the employees here are generally happier (hence, the employee shortage is not nearly as bad and the turnover is lower). It is also less competitive, which I like but some people may dislike if that’s how they drive themselves. It is also nice that it’s 2 years to senior. The national training center will be completed soon, and it will make trainings much more enjoyable. In terms of culture, I would say the people at the firm are more laid back.
CONS On the downside, the firm is obviously dealing with negative PR regarding audit quality. I’m sure that will boil over within a couple years when another firm takes that spotlight. Either way, it’s still concerning for those of us in audit. Also, there is no student loan reimbursement. There are other benefits that make up for it (1,200 flex spending, 25 days starting associate PTO plus holidays, etc). However, as someone with $30k debt still outstanding, the lack of student loan assistance was a big hit.
Finally, I know all the tax people in our office just got Kpmg socks from the partners. So, if you like worthless gifts, you most definitely should switch
I worked in tax for a while and I have to say, they were definitely the closest most familial group here. Maybe it’s because they all work out of the office so they are around each other all the time, but everyone was way closer than in the other groups (minus specific audit teams I’m guessing). But another pro is that tax is doing tax work, not just a bunch of audit provisions, which is one thing my friend who works in EY tax complains about. Granted, this might be different office to office
