Client involved in MVA, can’t drive for Uber or Lyft for 2.5-3 weeks, vehicle owned by Client, so rental only given in his name, 3P suggesting Client cant claim LWs because his wife should’ve illegally taken the rental to work and/or he shouldve driven her to work and then used her car to work for those 2.5-3 weeks, thoughts? He couldn't have used the rental either and his account was suspended under his vehicle. Also, Client purchased new vehicle sooner to RTW sooner as parts were backordered.
I don’t know if you’re a newer nurse or what but I switched from ER to psych as a newer nurse. I regret leaving before getting more hospital experience first. If you hate psych and want to go back to a hospital setting or you decide you want to do like FNP or something, you may wish you had gotten more hospital experience first. Just something you may want to think about. Don’t want someone overlooking you in the future because you lack hospital bedside experience.
Lacking the bedside clinical experience may keep you from landing other positions. Look at travel positions/management positions, all want 2-5 years of hospital experience. I’m not trying to steer you any direction, just might want to be something you think about before you make that decision.
I went back and got my MSN with a focus in informatics. I can speak to a lot of things—mainly because I had 5 years of prior non-nursing healthcare experience, but I definitely feel if I had more hospital nursing experience I would be more effective in my informatics role.
So much so that I have now decided to go back to the bedside PRN (for monetary purposes but also for the experience so that I can add additional clinical/bedside years to my resume).
It’s definitely a lot more chill than med surg. I had about 15 patients when I worked on an inpatient psych unit. I actually really liked the job. The staff/management/facility policies is what made me leave. You can usually always find psych travel positions too if you’re interested in traveling.
I’ve thought about psych nursing several times. I had clinicals in a forensic unit and loved it. There were some really mentally I’ll patients and others waiting on trial. One of the nurses told me those waiting on trial are on their best behavior, because if they act up they go to jail.
