Congrats! I can relate. Principal said I had to stay till tomorrow for "important" client meetings scheduled for tomorrow... but I get to go home b/c Wifey called, "this one is coming early catch the next flight if you can!" Barely made flight. Hope to make it home in time. Then blessed paternity leave.

D gives 6 months - I'm due any day now and taking maternity tomorrow 👍🏼 Now people's expectations of how long I'm really taking off has been different unfortunately. Like you know the policy - are you asking bc you're expecting a different answer 🙄

Am I wrong? SIL (don’t get along) is having baby 2. She’s an “artist” read: stay at home mom, lived at home with parents all throughout college and postgrad until she married basically everything, provided by her husband who works a MODEST middle class job at a car dealership. Not sure if I should go to Quora or another bowl for the proper forum but I’ll start here. I am not from the US and taxes overwhelm me; the first few years I did them with TurboTax and it was fine but then I entered a domestic partnership and had a baby. I also bought a house (that I don’t live in), so I went to H&R Block to give it a try assuming they could advise me on optimizing my return, it seemed that they are completely transactional as the person is just typing numbers in a form (cont…)

Down because I got some upsetting (work-related) news yesterday. I was up for promotion and did not get it, basically for my actual job that I have been acting in for over a year. I had perfect reviews and perfect on the technical portion of the interview. Apparently they dinged me on something subjective relating to situational competencies. Colleagues—who I trained and mentored—did receive promotion and we will all be working at the same job, just them at higher level and pay. Contd.
